Global online betting company Betway and British multinational telecommunications company Vodafone are joining ESL’s sponsorship portfolio. Betway joins the sponsorship club for ESL One, CS:GO Pro League, and IEM Katowice. Vodafone comes on board only for the last one.
Betway going all in on esports
The online bookmaker is extending the sponsorship commitment for the CS:GO Pro League while adding two new tournaments to the list. The Betway-ESL partnership will see the company sponsor Seasons 7 and 8 of the CS:GO Pro League, ESL One tournaments, as well the currently underway IEM Katowice 2018.
“We’re really excited to be sponsoring some of the biggest events on the esports calendar,” said Betway Head of Esports Adam Savinson. “We’ve already enjoyed an incredible amount of success over the past 12 months, becoming the first betting partner of CS:GO Pro League and ESL One Cologne, and we can’t wait to build on this further.”
Among its recent esports activity, Betway sponsored Season 6 of the CS:GO Pro League and ESL One Cologne.

“With the expansion across further ESL assets, we are building on our successful partnership with Betway,” said ESL Global Senior VP of Sales & Business Development Bernhard Mogk. “We are glad to have found such a strong and reliable partner, and together we are looking forward to an exciting year full of esports action.”
Additionally, the company entered into a partnership with esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2016, becoming the headline sponsor of the team.
Vodafone on board for IEM Katowice
The mobile operator joined the group of sponsors for IEM Katowice, which started today and runs through March 4. Announced by ESL last week, the partnership puts Vodafone on the list of premium partners for the StarCraft II and CS:GO event.
“We’ve seen esports grow from a niche gaming activity to the world’s most popular sport of this generation, and we strongly believe that the next step to grow further, is technological advancement.” said ESL CEO Ralf Reichert. “This partnership enables ESL to deliver better events, better experience for fans, and better facilities for the players – and it’s just the beginning.”
It’s not the first time Vodafone enters competitive gaming waters either. Last year, the company’s German branch partnered with mousesports as the organization’s head sponsor.
