100 Thieves Drop Steel

News started circulating a few days ago about the possibility of 100 Thieves dropping Joshua “steel” Nissan. According to a report by Upcomer, Steel was cut from the main 100 Thieves lineup and will be replaced by Aaron “b0i” Thao.

Steel has been with the team for over a year and has led 100 Thieves to many victories as their in-game leader. Apparently, Steel’s performance in the most recent VCT Masters in Berlin was a bit lacking, so the replacement might go through. B0i joined as a substitute in early July of this year, but now he could potentially find a permanent spot in 100 Thieves.

The Last Chance

100 Thieves have had an exceptional run in the VCT Masters in Berlin. They wrapped up the group stage with two convincing victories. Havan Liberty was no match for them, and while Gambit was a tougher battle, 100 Thieves emerged victorious.

The team looked to be in great shape as they were heading to the playoffs. The first match of the playoffs was against Acend, and it was a tough one. The third and final map led into overtime, where 100 Thieves claimed yet another win.

But what happened next must have been a hard blow for 100 Thieves. They met Team Envy, who managed to eliminate Sentinels out of all teams, and at first it seemed that luck was on 100 Thieves’ side. But the utter defeat that followed was far from what anyone on the team expected. They were completely dominated on both maps, and this is what hurt them the most.

They have one final shot at VCT Champions in the VCT: NA Last Chance Qualifier. The Valorant betting odds are pointed towards them, so there’s a pretty good chance they’ll pull through. If the Steel to b0i swap does go through, odds are it’ll happen after this event is over.

Who Will Lead 100 Thieves

If Steel does depart from 100 Thieves, that’ll leave a gap in the formation that’s not so easy to fix. Not only is steel a veteran with a ton of experience under his belt, but he’s also the team’s in-game leader. He’s the one calling the shots and leading his team in battle.

If true, then the responsibility would most likely fall on Hiko, who is a legend himself. Luckily, his vast experience and natural leadership qualities would certainly match those of Steel.
B0i would be the final piece of the puzzle. The core 100 Thieves lineup is already quite strong, so fitting into the team would be easy for him.

100 Thieves remain silent on the matter. There’s no confirmation coming from their side, but no denial either. We’ll probably have to wait until the Valorant Champions Tour – NA Last Chance Qualifier ends before learning the full story.
