Abios Boss Oskar Bonnevier Fröberg Steps Down, Co-Founder Anton Janér to Replace

Esports data provider Abios has announced it has appointed CTO Anton Janér as its new managing director. Janér will replace Oskar Bonnevier Fröberg, Abios’ long-term CEO, as per a release from today (May 7).
Janér co-founded the company alongside Fröberg in 2013, and will now take on the mantle of managing director as the latter pursues new endeavors. The move at the c-suite, which came into effect from May 1, comes days after Abios announced a new partnership with Team Vitality.
Fröberg’s stewardship ends after over a decade with Abios which has seen the company expand to reach millions of esports fans, provide data and insights to businesses, and employ around 70 people across the globe.
Most notably, Fröberg helmed the company during its acquisition by Kambi Group, a leading sports betting technology company. Abios is now the esports arm of Kambi Group plc.
Speaking on his departure, Fröberg reflected on his tenure at Abios, while endorsing his successor Janér:
“It is with mixed emotions that I have resigned as CEO of Abios. This decision has not been an easy one, as I have dedicated more than 10 years of my life to building and leading this organisation together with Anton. However, we could not have found a better home for Abios than Kambi nor could I have found a better successor than Anton, giving me every confidence that Abios will only flourish moving forward.”
Anton Janér also commented on his new position with Abios:
“I am honored to take on the role of managing director and lead Abios into its next chapter. Oskar and I have had a lot of fun together throughout the years at Abios, building the company into the industry leader it is today. I am very excited about the future of Abios and eager to take the business to new heights alongside our excellent team.”
