Due to the current situation in Ukraine, the LCL started way later than expected and they lost their chance to send a team to LoL Worlds 2022. The league continues but the winner will not attend the international stage.

The tournament will start with the play-in stage, which will host 12 teams’ competition against each other. Firstly, teams will be divided into two groups. The last two teams in each group will be eliminated and the top teams of each group will qualify for the main event. The second-seeded teams of groups will move on to the qualification match. Even though the third and the fourth teams will also advance to the next stage, they will play an extra round before facing the leaders of each group. To sum up, League of Legends Worlds teams will have different routes according to their placements in the Play-ins Group Stage.

According to the announced LoL Worlds schedule, the Play-in stage will start on September 29 and end on October 4. Only four teams at this stage will compete with the best teams in the world in the main event. The majority of the Play-in participants are set but still not completed. LEC’s third seed, North America’s third seed, and the Turkish champion will fill the missing slots on the stage. Moreover, some of the main events teams are also not ready yet. With the end of LCS and LEC, the main event participants of the tournament, except the teams that will qualify from play-ins, will be clear.

This year’s League of Legends World Championship will welcome an extra team from a major region which will spice things up in LoL Worlds betting. This year, there will be two European teams in the play-ins and one of them is MAD Lions. This will change the betting odds for LoL Worlds for sure as the competition will be much better. Starting in Mexico City, this year’s League of Legends World Championship will take place in North America and it is about to start soon!
