The 7th season of Apex Legends, Ascension, has just been announced by Respawn and they have provided the first few details on what we can expect. The update looks to be one that will certainly shake Apex Legends as we know it. Ascension will be introducing a new map, a new vehicle, and a new character.

Obviously, the biggest announcement for this season is the new map, Olympus. According to the teaser website for the new season, Olympus is “a beautiful, lush city in the clouds. Just watch your step — it’s a long way down to the planet below.” It looks like there will be a bigger emphasis on platforming challenges in this new map. There are not many further details on the new map, Respawn say that they will provide more info on the new content as the release date draws closer.
The new character introduced in Season 7 is Horizon. She has been teased for the past few days. In her lore, she is an experiment astrophysicist. In her “Stories from the Outlands” trailer we see her using a black hole. Much like the map, we don’t have many concrete details about how the character will play at this point, but it looks like she will use her science background in the game.

The final piece of content teased on the website is the Trident, a new addition to the game that looks like it will be exclusive to the Olympus map. The text on the teaser site reads “Olympus is a big place. Cover ground faster with the Trident. Plenty of room for the whole squad!” This looks like a driveable vehicle is appearing in Apex Legends when Season 7 premieres.
Season 7 is due to debut on November 4th, the same day that it appears on the Steam store. The new map, character, and potential vehicle will have some interesting effects on the professional scene. It will take some time for players to get used to the new map, we might see some upsets or underdog wins as the current roster of professional Apex players perfect their strategies on a whole new map.
