Telecommunications Giant AT&T Joins Pennsylvania Esports Coalition
American multinational conglomerate AT&T has joined the Pennsylvania Esports Coalition to support the future of competitive gaming. PA ESC, a non-profit organization, has its mission to advance the development, growth, and integrity of esports in the state.
Making an impact for the development of esports
With a projected revenue growth of over 30 percent in 2018 and catering to an audience of 380 million, it’s no surprise that the market has attracted a lot of attention. Getting AT&T, a gigantic media and entertainment company, joining the coalition is further showing how big the industry of esports has truly become.
“We are elated to have one of the world’s largest companies as a member of our coalition as we continue to gain momentum advocating for all aspects of the industry in Pennsylvania,” PA ESC Board of Directors Chairman Bill Thomas said in a statement. “AT&T is an iconic company with a global brand, so this is a significant moment for the coalition.”
It is not the first time AT&T and esports have crossed paths. The company serves as the official Telecommunications and Mobile Gaming Partner of ESL North America.
“It makes sense for AT&T to be active in the competitive entertainment ecosystem because they sit at the crossroads of developing the technology for people to play competitively and delivering the entertainment content to the public,” Thomas added.
Enhancing influence
The addition of a company like AT&T gives an organization like the PA ESC the resources and boost to potentially reach a wider audience.
“We jumped at the chance to join the coalition in part because they’re ahead of the game,” AT&T External Affairs Regional VP David Kerr commented. “PA ESC is the first organization of its kind in the country, and we wanted to be early members.”
AT&T joins a diverse group of members of the coalition, namely Esports Integrity Coalition, N3rd Street Gamers, Pittsburgh Knights, Trick Strat Esports Drawing App, Harrisburg University, Whitaker Centre, Dauphin County Commissioners, Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority, Valley Forge Sports, Conestoga Valley Esports, McNees Wallace & Nurick, Capital Associates, and Mid-Atlantic Strategic Solutions.
