Betway Enters Argentinian Market

Published: May 5, 2022 - Last Updated: Jul 7, 2023

If you have had a look at our Betway Casino review and wished that you could have signed up with the site in Argentina, then there is potentially some good news coming your way.

That’s because Betway has been granted a license to operate in the Argentinean capital city of Buenos Aires, and the company will be offering sports betting, casino gaming and esports betting to its 3 million inhabitants.

Betway will access the city through its partner site Bingo Pilar after being granted a license to do so by the Loteria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (LOTBA).

They become the latest betting service and casino provider to be granted a license to operate within the Argentinean capital alongside the likes of bet365 and Betsson.

Customers can access Betway’s sports, casino gaming and esports betting services via a dedicated website as well as being able to download the Betway app.

“Long Time In Planning”

Speaking about the announcement, Anthony Werkman, the CEO of Betway revealed that moving into the Buenos Aires market had been a long-held ambition for the company.

It’s been a long time in planning, so we’re obviously very happy for the Betway brand to be going live in the City of Buenos Aires,” he said.

Latin America is already a successful territory for us, so we’re very pleased to be able to offer our products to the passionate sports fans in Argentina as we continue our growth in the continent.

Back in February, Betway announced that they had renewed their partnership agreement with the Peruvian-based Dota2 team Beastcoast.

Back in July 2021, the company announced that it had ambitious plans for expansion into three new continents outside Europe and it looks very much like this move is part of that strategy.

Exciting For Buenos Aires

Betway’s Head of Buenos Aires City Operations, Juan Pablo Barahona expressed his delight at the news too.

It’s a great achievement for the Betway brand to be granted a licence in Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires, a region where sport is a huge passion.

Our products are universally popular, so it’s an exciting time for us as we showcase our proposition to the people of Buenos Aires.

What Markets Could Be Winners For Betway In Buenos Aires?

The Argentine capital of Buenos Aires is a hotbed for sport in the country. The most popular sport is football, with the city being home to an incredible 24 professional football teams, the most of any city in the world.

The biggest two teams in the city are River Plate and Boca Juniors and their Superclasico game is one of the most intense in all of football.

Other clubs located in the city include San Lorenzo, Huracan, Velez Sarsfield and Argentinos Juniors, all of whom play in the Primera Division of Argentinean soccer.

Boxing is another very popular sport in the country, with Rugby Union, swimming, tennis, basketball and golf also very popular.

There are a number of popular esports teams based in Argentina including Isurus Gaming, Team Argentina, Pinguinos, Furious Gaming and the country is also home to Fortnite star k1nG and FIFA superstar Nicolas Villalba (Nicolas99FC).

This move certainly represents another important step for Betway in its continued development as a global betting company.
