Popular sports and esports betting service Betway has agreed a brand new and long term deal with Betgenius, the betting arm of the Genius Sports Group, that will mean that Betway gains access to Betgenius’ high-quality in-play live betting service.

The deal will see Betgenius supply Betway with a host of odds and market data across a massive choice of different sports that offer a chance for punters to bet in-play. Sports included in the deal include Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball.

Also included in the agreement are extensive options for Live In Play betting on esports, which as you may recall, was something that we focused on in detail earlier in the work.

The content from Betgenius will allow Betway to offer content from over 300 different sporting competitions and tournaments and includes many popular leagues across Europe from a range of sports, such as the English Premier League, Italy’s Serie A, and the increasingly popular EuroLeague basketball.

Highest quality of experience

Speaking about the deal, the CEO at Betway, Anthony Werkman, commented that:

“Fast and reliable updates are key to providing our customers with the highest quality of experience when placing their bets. We are delighted to continue working with Betgenius and we value this long-standing partnership. This extension will also allow our customers to stay close to the action in the sports that they love.”

From Betgenius’ perspective, their Global Partnerships Director Matt Stephenson stated:

“Betway has always invested in a first-rate product for its players wherever they are in the world. With fast, accurate and reliable data and trading, we’re proud to play a key role in driving both customer experience and revenues for our long-term partner.”

No details of how long the deal was to last were available, although the fact that it is a long term deal suggests that it will be for a longer period than standard content supply deals.

The upshot for the Betway punter?

What will this mean for the typical punter at Betway? Well, the new deal will mean that the company should be able to offer a greater range of live betting services across a broader range of sports. You would also expect that with enhanced and improved data, some new markets may well be available for punters to bet on when making a bet in play.

However, given the impact of Covid-19, the biggest benefit for both Betway and its customers could well be in the implementation of live esports betting. This market has seen a huge expansion in recent times and research suggests that modern esports fans and bettors are far more likely to bet In-Play on esports games, than on traditional pre-event betting markets.

Add to that the fact that esports betting has remained relatively unscathed through the pandemic, and indeed has grown markedly in popularity, it may well be the inclusion of this as part of the deal between the two companies that offer both Betway and its customers some of the most tangible longer-term benefits.
