Betway Sponsors BLAST’s Dota 2 Bounty Hunt Tournament

One of the leading sports betting sites, who also have an extensive esports betting service available to customers, Betway have been announced as the company that is set to sponsor the eagerly anticipated and inaugural BLAST Dota 2 Bounty Hunt tournament.

The tournament represents a move away from their traditional tournament provision in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for BLAST, a Denmark-based company, although they had announced their intentions to organize a new Dota 2 tournament earlier in May 2020.

Incredibly Successful 2020

The move into sponsoring the first BLAST Dota 2 event was not a difficult one for Betway to make. The company has long established itself as a regular sponsor of top esports tournaments including the DreamHack Masters.

Indeed, the announcement of the company’s intentions to back the new tournament as a sponsor was indicated way back in December 2019, when the new tournament was first mooted.

Speaking about the agreement, Adam Savinson, the head of esports at Betway stated:

“We have had an incredibly successful 2020 working with BLAST across their Counter-Strike tournaments, making it a very easy decision to support their entry into Dota 2. We are excited to see BLAST bring their innovative and exciting approach to a new game, and are proud to help them on that journey.”

Leo Matlock, the commercial director for BLAST also expanded on the positives that both companies have experienced since they first partnered together.

“The expansion of this deal is testament to the impressive collaboration between BLAST and Betway over the last 18 months,” he stated.

“We look forward to continuing this innovative partnership as we expand into one of the world’s most played and loved games in the shape of Dota 2. We can’t wait to deliver the world class Dota 2 tournament that fans have been asking for and are delighted that Betway are supporting and working with us to ensure we achieve this.”

BLAST Bounty Hunt

We’re expecting to see many punters enjoy some Dota 2 betting on the BLAST Bounty Hunt event when it begins on June 9th. Six teams have been signed up to compete in the event, including some big names that have participated and even won The International, the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year.

Two of the top teams, Team Secret and two-time The International winners OG have been seeded into the upper bracket semifinals of the tournament, while Team Liquid will face Nigma and Alliance will take on Ninjas in Pyjamas in the First Round of matches.

The winning teams move onto the Upper bracket semis, with the losers dropping into the Lower Bracket to fight again, against the losers of the Upper Bracket Round 2 matches.

It will be interesting to see how many Dota 2 predictions and tips take into account the Bounty Hunt nature of the tournament, where every team will wager 40% of their total bounty in each game (each starts with $15,000). In addition, $45,000 in other benefits can be won by teams throughout the tournament.

This type of tournament is relatively rare in esports betting and so it will be interesting to see how the event pans out.
