Betway Backs Esports By Sponsoring Annual CSGO Tournament CS_Summit 6

Having moved last month to secure lucrative sponsorship deals with both DreamHack and a Dota2 BLAST Bounty Hunt event, popular sports and esports betting site Betway have announced that they have agreed a deal to sponsor another top-ranking esports event.

The company have agreed to become one of the primary sponsors of the forthcoming CS_Summit 6 tournament, an annual event which this year will take place from the 22 June to the 5 July with a total of $200,000 up for grabs in a fulsome prize pool.

In addition, the CS_Summit 6 tournament will also act as a way to qualify for the forthcoming ESL Rio Major, which is scheduled to take place in Brazil in November this year, with a massive prize pool of $2 million already confirmed for that event.

Second Beyond the Summit Deal

Although the deal was announced only recently, this is not the first time that Betway have agreed a deal with the tournament organisers Beyond the Summit. The company also sponsored the CS_Summit 5 event last year to great success.

Speaking about the deal, Betway’s head of esports, Adam Savinson, stated:

“Since our successful sponsorship of CS_Summit 5 last year, we have been keen to find another opportunity to work together. We are delighted that we can yet again sponsor one of the year’s most exciting events.”

The vice president of sales at Beyond the Summit, Michelle Cheng was equally vibrant when details of the deal were announced, commenting:

“Betway has been a huge supporter of the Counter-Strike esports scene for many years now. They are true fans of the game and we’re honoured to partner with such an industry-leading bookmaker.”

Esports Team Sponsorship

In addition to sponsoring events such as the last two CS_Summit events and the Dota BLAST Bounty Hunter, Betway have been very active in the esports industry as a sponsor in other ways too. They are one of the main sponsors of a number of esports teams, including Ninjas in Pyjamas, BIG and PSG.LGD, Invictus Gaming and Made in Brazil.

The site was also one of the first non-specialist esports betting sites to offer customers tailored esports betting promotions and offers when they joined the site and it has been a familiar name in the esports betting community, both as a provider of esports betting and team and tournament sponsor for many years.

What is CS_Summit?

The CS_Summit tournament is an online event taking place in two geographic locations, North America (with a $75,000 prize pool on offer) and Europe (with a $125,000 prize pool available).

13 teams will compete in the North American event, with the top five in the NA RMR Rankings earning a place in Stage 2 of the tournament and the remaining eight teams starting at Stage 1.

The teams ranked 2nd to 12th in the Europe RMR Rankings will contest the European event, with a further five teams to be decided by a closed qualifier on the eve of the tournament.

Both events will run different formats with the European event featuring a Group Stage and then playoffs, while the North American tournament will have three different Stages with two brackets in each stage.

The winner of each event will claim the top cash prize and 2,000 RMR (Regional Major Ranking) points towards qualification for the Rio Major 2020 later in the year.
