BLAST Major Copenhagen 2023 – Event Overview
Format
Taking place between 24th April and 7th May, a total of $750,000 of prize pool is on the line for an event format which Rainbow Six tournaments have never seen.
Hosted offline at the Copenhagen Forum, the 24 teams have been sourced from all over the world as follows, seeded in two Phases:
- Europe League – 2 (Phase 2), 2 (Phase 1)
- North America League – 2 (Phase 2), 2 (Phase 1)
- Brazil League – 2 (Phase 2), 2 (Phase 1)
- Japan League – 1 (Phase 2), 2 (Phase 1)
- South Korea League – 1 (Phase 2), 2 (Phase 1)
- LATAM League – 2 (Phase 1)
- Asia League – 2 (Phase 1)
- Oceania League – 1 (Phase 1)
- MENA League – 1 (Phase 1)
Accordingly, the format has been split into three stages of competition.
Firstly, between 24 and 27th April, a double elimination bracket will take place across four groups with GSL format – this is Phase 1. From each group of four, only the top 2 will advance to the Playoffs.
Here are the groups:
- Group A – SANDBOX Gaming, FURY, MNM Gaming, Team Falcons
- Group B – Ninjas in Pyjamas, Six Karma, Spacestation, Elevate
- Group C – NORTHEPTION, REVEN ECLUB, Soniqs, LAVEGA Esports
- Group D – w7m esports, Team Bliss, Wolves Esports, Varrel
Nex up, Phase 2 will feature a similar format, featuring Phase 1 teams facing Phase 2 teams through a Team Swiss System Format. All of this will take place between 29th April and 3rd May.
With seeding determined based on performance in Phase 1, only half the teams (8) will progress to Phase 3.
Once in Phase 3, between May 5-7th, a single-elimination bracket which concludes with a BO5 Grand Final will crown a new champion for Rainbow Six Siege, featuring the best Rainbow Six Siege players in the world.
