CDL 2021: Super Week (#2 & #3) Top Picks and Predictions

Published: Feb 16, 2021 - Last Updated: Feb 19, 2021

What started as a regular week for the Call of Duty League quickly fell in disarray, with winter storms laying waste to much of the country, causing power outages across a widespread area. Unfortunately, these power outages massively impacted Texas, where more than half of the Call of Duty League’s competitors are currently residing. As a result, the second week of the CDL 2021 season was postponed, with League organisers opting instead for a gargantuan Super Week, featuring twenty matches across a seven-day period.

However, we’ve still got you covered where the Call of Duty League predictions and top picks are concerned, and you can find all the latest information on these match-ups in the listings below. We’re guaranteed to see some intense face-offs over the seven-day period, as teams battle both one another and exhaustion to step up the table ahead of the season’s first Tournament Major. This Major is the first tipping point of the season, with one team set to walk away with a $200,000 prize and some insane bragging rights over the rest of the League’s roster.

With all that information in mind, let’s dive right into the Call of Duty League 2021 schedule and predictions for the Super Week ahead.

Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. Florida Mutineers

Monday, February 22nd – 15:00 EST

LAG: Apathy, Assault, Silly, Vivid

FLA: Skyz, Owakening, Slacked, Neptune

You really couldn’t ask for a more exciting start to the second week of the Call of Duty League. These two teams have been playing extremely well and, despite both losing an opening weekend match, they’re obviously eager to prove what they’re capable of. The Guerrillas both won and lost a match in the opening weekend, falling to Atlanta FaZe but then absolutely dominating Paris Legion, so you can argue that they already have a taste of victory. However, the Mutineers fell prey to a strong and dominating Toronto Ultra, and they fought like animals every step of the way. It’s a close competition, but we know how we’re calling this one.

Result: Los Angeles Guerrillas

Toronto Ultra vs. Atlanta FaZe

Monday, February 22nd – 16:30 EST

TOR: Bance, Cammy, CleanX, Methodz

ATL: Abezy, Cellium, Simp, Arcitys

These two teams both showed excellent promise across the opening weekend, playing their hearts out to draw with a 75% GW record apiece. However, FaZe won two matches, while Toronto Ultra won just one, against the lackluster competition of the Florida Mutineers. While it’s always fun to side with the underdog in a competition – particularly where Call of Duty League betting is concerned – we do have to stand in Atlanta FaZe’s corner in this bout. The experience and dominating forces of SlasheR and Arcitys will undoubtedly overwhelm the relatively young side of Ultra.

Result: Atlanta FaZe

Paris Legion vs. Florida Mutineers

Tuesday, February 23rd – 15:00 EST

PAR: Aqua, Classic, Fire, Skrapz

FLA: Skyz, Owakening, Slacked, Neptune

Paris Legion come into this match with a whole week of rest behind them, which means they’ll have had plenty of time to nurse the wounds dealt by the 0-2 record they picked up in the opening weekend. While the Mutineers are also reeling from a loss, they have higher expectations in general, and they’ll likely lean on that reputation to pull a win out of the bag. Although, there is an opportunity for the Mutineers to also suffer a second loss before the match, as they open this week against the Los Angeles Guerrillas. Can Paris Legion, who currently sit at the base of the Call of Duty League standings, overwhelm the Mutineers?

New York Subliners vs. London Royal Ravens

Tuesday, February 23rd – 16:30 EST

NY: Clayster, Mack, Diamondcon, Asim

LDN:  Seany, Alex, Dylan, Parasite

The Ravens have a tough week ahead of them, playing two matches back to back across Friday and Saturday, but can they pull off a win in at least one of them? They’re facing off against the New York Subliners, which is the only team in the League so far to win absolutely no games whatsoever. However, the Subliners were fighting against an incredible LA Thieves side in its opening match, and my word did the Subliners put up a fight. It went down to the wire in every single game, with the New York side proving they’re a force to truly be reckoned with. This is a fight for pure points between two low-table sides, and it’ll be interesting to see what gameplay a sense of desperation can produce.

Result: London Royal Ravens

Seattle Surge vs. Minnesota Rokkr

Tuesday, February 23rd – 18:00 EST

SEA: Gunless, Loony, Prestinni, Octane

MIN: Priestahh, Attach, Accuracy, Majormaniak

Now, Seattle Surge did win one of its opening match-ups, but it was against the London Royal Ravens, a team who has so far shown little promise in the Call of Duty League. However, the Surge also fell prey to the Dallas Empire – which we all saw coming, of course. On the other side of the spectrum, Minnesota Rokkr lost out against the LA Thieves, who were remarkably strong and tactical, but ultimately dominated Dallas Empire, the reigning champions. It could honestly go either way here, with Surge boasting the overwhelming power of Prestinni and Gunless, versus the abilities of Rokkr’s Attach, Accuracy, and Priestahh.

London Royal Ravens vs. Dallas Empire

Wednesday, February 24th – 15:00 EST

LDN:  Seany, Alex, Dylan, Parasite

DAL: Illey, Shotzzy, Huke, C6

Originally, we would have said that the Royal Ravens should be quaking in their boots at the sight of this match-up, but Dallas Empire is currently reeling from a hard-fought loss to Minnesota Rokkr. If the Ravens have pulled off a win in their match against Subliners the night before, they’ll be invigorated and pushing forward with a fresh mindset. It all comes down to talent and ability, which the Ravens’ new pick-up, Parasite, has in spades. Can he overcome the veteran might of Crimsix, however? Only time will tell.

Seattle Surge vs. Los Angeles Thieves

Wednesday, February 24th – 16:30 EST

SEA: Gunless, Loony, Prestinni, Octane

LAT: SlasheR, Kenny, Temp, TJHaly

Finally, the top-table team makes an appearance in the second week of the Call of Duty League, but it’s not all that impressive a match-up. The Los Angeles Thieves currently sit in the number one spot, boasting an incredible game record of 6-1 – an 85.7% win record. They’ve already beaten down the likes of Minnesota Rokkr – the champion slayers – and Paris Legion – the bottom-table terrors. Surge failed to defeat the Empire in their opening match-up, but they did dominate the London Royal Ravens, following a tough-fought battle. But can the underdogs bite down the pedigree contender?

Result: Los Angeles Thieves

Toronto Ultra vs. OpTic Chicago

Wednesday, February 24th – 18:00 EST

TOR: Bance, Cammy, CleanX, Methodz

CHI: Dashy, Envoy, FormaL, Scump

It’s a battle of the northern regions as Toronto Ultra steps out to take on OpTic Chicago, but who will emerge victorious? Toronto currently sits two spots above OpTic in the table, boasting a game record of 3-1, while OpTic sits on a less impressive 5-3. In the opening weekend, Toronto dominated the Mutineers, while OpTic lost out against FaZe – but only by five points in a round of hardpoint. It was almost a stroke of luck by FaZe, who would have otherwise surely fallen to the might of OpTic. We feel that Scump and FormaL won’t let the side down this week, and they’ll bring home the win.

New York Subliners vs. Minnesota Rokkr

Thursday, February 25th – 15:00 EST

NY: Clayster, Mack, Diamondcon, Asim

MIN: Priestahh, Attach, Accuracy, Majormaniak

If there ever was a contender for the top spot, it’s the team known as Minnesota Rokkr. Although they fell to the might of the Los Angeles Thieves in the opening weekend, they effectively dominated the Call of Duty League reigning champions, Dallas Empire. There’s a well-oiled machine in Accuracy, Attach, Majormaniak, and Preistahh, who calmly pulled off some incredible maneuvers in their match-up against the Empire this past weekend. However, the underdog competitors of Clayster, Mack, Diamondcon, and Asim cannot be counted out just yet, as they fought unbelievably hard against the Thieves in their one match of the opening weekend.

Result: Minnesota Rokkr

Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. OpTic Chicago

Thursday, February 25th – 16:30 EST

LAG: Apathy, Assault, Silly, Vivid

CHI: Dashy, Envoy, FormaL, Scump

Last year, this match-up would have been a ‘derby’, with both teams hailing from the same city. However, that isn’t the case this year, with OpTic having given up their Los Angeles spot to the LA Thieves, and relocating out to the windy city. This match is the definition of a level-pegging, with both OpTic and the Guerrillas having won and lost a match across the opening weekend; both losses being dealt at the hands of Atlanta FaZe. They’re in an extremely close position both in terms of the Call of Duty League standings and in ability, making it a tough one to call. However, OpTic came insanely close to beating FaZe, while the Guerrillas were whitewashed in a 0-3 loss.

Result: OpTic Chicago

Atlanta FaZe vs. Florida Mutineers

Thursday, February 25th – 18:00 EST

ATL: Abezy, Cellium, Simp, Arcitys

FLA: Skyz, Owakening, Slacked, Neptune

This is the first real match of the Super Week face-off, but while Florida Mutineers steps up to its third match of the week, Atlanta FaZe is sitting pretty and rested with just one match in the bank. Furthermore, the Mutineers will have already done battle with the considerably capable Los Angeles Guerrillas ahead of this match-up, a fixture that could have either damaged or boosted the team’s morale. Ahead of the Super Week, the Mutineers are in a paltry tenth place on the roster, bearing a lackluster game win record of just twenty-five percent, so the team has a lot to prove.

Result: Atlanta FaZe

Los Angeles Thieves vs. London Royal Ravens

Friday, February 26th – 15:00 EST

LAT: SlasheR, Kenny, Temp, TJHaly

LDN:  Seany, Alex, Dylan, Parasite

It’s another match exactly the same as the one before! The Ravens are coming in after having played two already, but the Thieves are likely nice and rested, following a simple face-off against Seattle Surge two days before. As I write this, the LA Thieves are sitting proudly at the top of the table – a fact which could certainly change given time – but the Royal Ravens are below the midpoint in ninth place. While we’ve seen some impressive plays thus far from the Ravens’ new pick-up, Parasite, will it be enough to overcome the likes of SlasheR and Kenny? In our opinion, there’s only one way this match is going.

Result: Los Angeles Thieves

Toronto Ultra vs. Paris Legion

Friday, February 26th – 16:30 EST

TOR: Bance, Cammy, CleanX, Methodz

PAR: Aqua, Classic, Fire, Skrapz

Despite many desperate gunfights, the Legion sits at the flat bottom of the table as we go into the Super Week, being the only team to lose two entire matches. They’re also sitting down there with just a twenty-five percent game win record, which is a very weak showing for the team as a whole. Their competitors in this match, Toronto Ultra, stroll into the week in third place, having played remarkably well in the opening weekend. Can the team of Aqua, Classic, Fire, and Skrapz overcome the clean and tactical plays of Toronto Ultra? You’d hope so, but we can’t see it happening.

Result: Toronto Ultra

Dallas Empire vs. New York Subliners

Friday, February 26th – 15:00 EST

DAL: Illey, Shotzzy, Huke, C6

NY: Clayster, Mack, Diamondcon, Asim

Now, here’s an interesting match-up, because both teams went against the expectations of the League’s fans on the opening weekend. Dallas Empire fell prey to a dominant Rokkr, and the Subliners gave the LA Thieves an incredibly tough time, pushing every game they played to the wire. As we move into the Super Week, we’d like to say that both teams are on level pegging, but Dallas is the more dominant side – at least on paper. The New York Subliners cannot be counted out, as they’ve proven themselves to be a considerable force in recent weeks. You know what, we’re going to sit in the underdog’s corner on this one.

Result: New York Subliners

Atlanta FaZe vs. Paris Legion

Saturday, February 27th – 15:00 EST

ATL: Abezy, Cellium, Simp, Arcitys

PAR: Aqua, Classic, Fire, Skrapz

By this point, the teams involved must be starting to tire themselves out, as both FaZe and the Legion step up into their third match of the densely-packed week. They’ve both fought the same battles earlier in the week, having played against both Florida Mutineers and Toronto Ultra. Those matches will likely set the tone for this one, depending on how they all wrapped up in the days before. However, FaZe has proven itself to be a difficult force to overcome in recent weeks, and we just cannot see the bottom-table team of Paris Legion knocking them down a peg.

Result: Atlanta FaZe

Minnesota Rokkr vs. London Royal Ravens

Saturday, February 27th – 16:30 EST

MIN: Priestahh, Attach, Accuracy, Majormaniak

LDN:  Seany, Alex, Dylan, Parasite

This will be the Ravens’ fourth match of the week, meaning they’ll either be on an elated high or an exhausted low – it all depends on the matches leading up to this point. Minnesota, however, should have had some easier matches against Seattle Surge and the New York Subliners this week, and they’re likely still riding high on their decimation of Dallas Empire in the opening weekend. We’ve witnessed some incredible plays from Priestahh, Attach, Accuracy, and Majormaniak, but the London side has been lacking somewhat.

Result: Minnesota Rokkr

Toronto Ultra vs. Los Angeles Guerrillas

Saturday, February 27th – 18:00 EST

LAG: Apathy, Assault, Silly, Vivid

TOR: Bance, Cammy, CleanX, Methodz

We’ve got a fairly balanced match on our hands in Ultra vs. the Guerrillas, with Toronto stepping up into its fourth match of the Super Week. However, they’ll likely have had a real week of it, playing against both Atlanta FaZe and OpTic Chicago, two frontrunners for this year’s championship title. It’ll all come down to the maps and the modes to determine the winner of this bout, but it’s a great fixture to close out the penultimate day of the Super Week.

Result: Los Angeles Guerrillas

New York Subliners vs. Seattle Surge

Sunday, February 28th – 15:00 EST

SEA: Gunless, Loony, Prestinni, Octane

NY: Clayster, Mack, Diamondcon, Asim

If the Surge approaches this match with a tactical mindset, they’ll have the win in the bag. They won’t have played a match since Wednesday, while the Subliners played on both Thursday and Friday, meaning Surge a) is the more rested side, and b) has had plenty of opportunities to study the Subliners’ playstyle. Furthermore, NY are facing off against both Rokkr and Empire across the course of the Super Week, meaning they’ll be played to the full extent of their abilities. If the Subliners can win, it’ll be nothing short of a miracle, with the likes of Gunless and Prestinni showing top form in recent games.

Result: Seattle Surge

OpTic Chicago vs. Florida Mutineers

Sunday, February 28th – 16:30 EST

CHI: Dashy, Envoy, FormaL, Scump

FLA: Skyz, Owakening, Slacked, Neptune

As the week pushes ever closer to the end, fans of the Call of Duty League are treated to a tantalising match-up featuring OpTic Chicago and the Florida Mutineers. OpTic will have spent the entire week watching the Mutineers closely, identifying exactly how the likes of Skyz and Owakening are trying to pick their opponents apart. They also haven’t had the best of starts, with Scump and co. losing out against Atlanta FaZe in one of the closest-fought battles of the opening weekend. They’ll be looking to bury the Mutineers and claim back some points as all twelve teams approach the first Tournament Major.

Result: OpTic Chicago

Dallas Empire vs. Los Angeles Thieves

Sunday, February 28th – 18:00 EST

DAL: Illey, Shotzzy, Huke, C6

LAT: SlasheR, Kenny, Temp, TJHaly

What a way to finish a Super Week – Dallas Empire versus the Los Angeles Thieves, two of this season’s biggest contenders for the ultimate spot. It’s the reigning champions versus the team who (at the time of writing this) sit at the top of the CDL 2021 standings. In the opening weekend, the Thieves decimated Rokkr, who subsequently laid waste to Dallas Empire in an extremely intense, five-map battle. In the days leading up to this face-off, both Empire and Thieves will have already played two matches, one of which (for both sides) will have been against the London Royal Ravens. This is undoubtedly the biggest match for these two teams this week, and they’ll both be looking to close out the Super Week on a high note.

Result: Dallas Empire
