Codename “Sprinter” – The New Valorant Agent Leaks
We all know Riot Games love to tease their fans with little clues about the new Valorant agents weeks and months prior to their release. This usually causes the community to go into this investigative frenzy, where every minor detail gets analyzed in hopes of discovering the secrets behind it.
This was the case with Chamber, whose codename “Deadeye” was leaked months before he was officially introduced. In Chamber’s case, the community was pretty much spot on and they guessed everything right.
With the new season on the horizon, many are expecting Riot to reveal their new agent who’s still a mystery. Luckily for us, there’s new leaks and information that suggest what kind of agent it could be, so we’re here to share it with you.
Codename: “Sprinter”
Back in July, we discovered some Valorant leaks that hinted towards some possible new agents. One interesting piece of information that was discovered was the codename “Sprinter”, which was found right next to the codename “Deadeye”, that turned out to be Chamber. This first clue suggests this could be the new agent that’s expected to be released sometime in early 2022.
So let’s assume Sprinter is the new agent. What does that tell us about it?
Well, even though the name Sprinter most likely won’t be the official agent name once released, it does indicate some type of speedy agent very similar to Jett. Chamber’s codename perfectly described his playstyle, so we can assume the same for Sprinter.
So we have a speedy character, most likely with superior mobility like Jett’s, but there’s more! According to some agent voice lines, it’s believed that this agent comes from Manila, Philippines and that it uses lightning in their ability toolkit.
In one of their recent State of the Agents post, Riot Games said the following:
“Kicking off next year is an Agent who can outpace the rest of the roster, shocking the competition, and sliding straight into the fight.”
This pretty much confirms all the theories so far and paints a clearer picture. Hopefully we’ll get more teasers or even a trailer to see how this agent performs in action.
Will it be a Duelist?
While we don’t have any clear information as to what role this new agent will play, but it is hard to imagine it being anything other than a duelist. It would fit perfectly with the theme of a lightning speedster. But more importantly, Riot would finally introduce some competition for Jett.
Jett has been the top agent of choice throughout the entire Valorant Champions Tour. Even in a non-competitive environment, she’s still the top pick for many players. It’s really hard for Riot to balance her without completely nerfing her skills.
If Sprinter ends up being similar to Jett, it will certainly become a fan favourite overnight. Expect a lot of fans, and even some top Valorant players, to switch their mains once Sprinter is released.
