CSGO United Masters League Playoffs Draw Near: Rounds 4 and 5 Start this Weekend
The CSGO ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals is the most important Counter Strike Global Offensive tournament of early December. This flagship competition will keep the fans at the edge of their seat for one month, but the online CSGO United Masters League has its fair share of enthusiasts.
The regular season is over and the preliminary rounds will determine the names of the eight teams to secure a playoffs berth. Round 4 and 5 will determine the teams that will advance to the quarterfinals later this week.
CSGO United Masters League Format and Prizes
The CSGO United Masters League tournament brought together 16 Counter Strike Global Offensive in an online esports tournament. Eight of them will qualify to the playoffs, while eight will be eliminated at the end of the five preliminary rounds.
During this stage of the competition, all the matches will be played in a best-of-three series, using the Swiss system format. Winners will also be decided at the end of three games in the playoffs, with the main difference being the fact that a single-elimination bracket will be used.
A total of $90,000 will be distributed among the semi finalists, so simply making it to the quarterfinals isn’t enough. The winner will walk away with $50,000, while the runner-up will have to settle for slightly less, $20,000.
There will be no match to decide the final hierarchy and both teams eliminated in the semi finals will be compensated with a paycheck worth $10,000.
Rounds Four and Five Start this Weekend
BIG and forZe are the only two teams to have won all the matches so far and they are also the main favourites to win the CSGO United Masters League. At the opposite end of the spectrum we have CR4ZY and ex-Windigo Gaming who have lost all games, some of them forfeited. It is now time for Rounds 4 and 5 of the tournament, where a mix of lopsided and highly-contested matches will be played.
During the fourth round, teams are divided into two groups and we’ll have those with a 2:1 score compete against those who have won just once. This is a great opportunity for the top performing squads to prove their skill against opponents they haven’t met before. Things get serious at this point, as those from the low groups are going to be eliminated when they lose the next match.
Giants Gaming, YaLLa and Hard Legion Gaming are the most likely to advance, after suffering narrow-margin defeats in the last rounds.
The CSGO United Masters League has saved the best for last, but before the playoffs begin, the fifth round will give punters another chance to back the favourites. That’s because they will be pit against teams they haven’t met before.
Winners will move on to the playoffs and the losers are sent home packing, leaving the top eight performers to show their quality in the quarterfinals. The CSGO United Masters League winner will be unveiled on December 6th with the semi finals taking place a day before.
