Deadlock Unsecured Souls can be used to purchase items in-game. It also counts towards your total Souls gathered so it also indicates the level-up rewards for your abilities.

Gradually, Unsecured Souls become Secured. The more Unsecured Souls you gather, the faster it will transform into Secured Souls.

The container of your Unsecured Souls is an orb-like object on your side visible to all players. It grows depending on the number of Unsecured Souls that you accumulated. At about 1,000, the orb is almost as large as Ivy.

Unsecured vs Secured Souls

The difference between Unsecured and Secured Souls is that when an enemy kills you, you drop them. Allies and enemies can pick up the dropped Souls. Take note that Unsecured Souls, when dropped, are visible on the map for players to claim.

You can use Unsecured Souls to purchase items, so you don’t risk dropping them during a clash or gank. However, Unsecured Souls are spent last whenever you purchase Deadlock items. For instance, you have 2,000 total Souls and 750 of them are Unsecured. If you buy an item worth 1,250, you will be left with 750 Unsecured Souls.

A good tip is once you hit the amount you want to buy an item, spend all your Souls before engaging in a fight. You can also avoid clashes and joining team fights if you have a significant number of Unsecured Souls. Wait for these souls to be Secured or spend it on items first. Be sure to know the best Deadlock builds before spending them, though.

How to Get Deadlock Unsecured Souls?

Now that you ask, Deadlock Unsecured Souls are pretty easy to get. You just have to kill Denizens, break objects around the Deadlock map, and punch Sinner’s Sacrifice.

Killing Denizens

Denizens are the neutral camps scattered on the map. These camps reward Unsecured Souls. This is also the easiest way to get them even in the early laning stage.

You can check the mini map for cyan triangle symbols which indicates the location of Denizen camps. The line between the triangle shows the Tier or difficulty of the camp.

No lines meant that it is Tier 1 Denizens which are easy to kill. They spawn two minutes after the match starts. Tier 2 Denizens are located on the triangles with one line below. They are medium camps and spawn every seven minutes. Tier 3 Denizens, which are the most difficult to kill, are also known as “hard camp”. Hard camps spawn after seven minutes.

Breaking Objects

The second way to get Unsecured Souls is by breaking objects around the map. Breakables are found all around the map in the form of a crate or boxes. These Breakables reward players with Unsecured Souls.

The value of Souls within the crate changes over time. The longer you are in a match, the higher the reward. Breakables can be destroyed by shooting, punching, and using certain abilities.

Punching Sinner’s Sacrifice Vending Machine

The third one is punching Sinner’s Sacrifice is a vending machine that can be broken by using melee attacks. Each Sinner’s Sacrifice grants 300 Unsecured Souls. Half of these Souls are granted by the melee attacks and half are granted in Soul Orbs after being destroyed.

When is the best time to get Deadlock Unsecured Souls?

The best time to get Deadlock Unsecured Souls will depend on the status of each lane. Note that you are at risk of dropping these Souls so relying on camps for your total Souls is not recommended. Whenever your lanes are pushed out, you can quickly farm Tier 1 Denizen camps before the enemy takes any objectives.

Learn the spawn timing of Denizen camps so you can map out your farming route. Destroy any Breakables and Sinner’s Sacrifice that you find around the map. This will ensure that you hit that power spike to win team fights and claim objectives. Stay tuned for more Deadlock tips.
