Dota 2 Upcoming Events 2020: best gambling opportunities
If you’re interested in Dota 2 upcoming events for 2020, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that no less than three of them will take place in February. Each and every one of these events provides numerous Dota 2 gambling opportunities. I’ll take a look at them below.
ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Qualifiers
On our list of Dota 2 upcoming events for 2020, the qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles are probably the number one thing to consider. As you probably know, ESL One LA will be the third Major of the current Dota Pro Circuit. And as a result, it will have a great significance on the overall pecking order. After it the teams will get just two more chances to earn qualification points in substantial amounts and get a direct invitation to The International 2020 by finishing the regular season in the top 12.
The qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles are scheduled to take place between February 9th – 12th. As usual, they will be held in each of the six official regions: Europe, CIS, North America, South America, China, and Southeast Asia.
The competitive format of the tournaments will include a Group Stage and a Playoffs Stage. The first of these two stages has 10 teams. These teams get divided into two groups of five. The top two teams from each group advance to the Playoffs. Depending on the region, either 2 or 3 spots are available.
In total, there will be numerous matches played and this will result in many Dota 2 betting opportunities.
WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon
The second tournament on this list of Dota 2 upcoming events for 2020 is WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon. This will be a Minor held in Kyiv, Ukraine between February 19th – 23rd. A number of 8 teams have been invited and a total prize pool of $300,000 is on the line. Given the game’s recent player base issues and the lack of esports tournaments it will soon suffer from, an event like this one is a huge plus for the competitive scene. The fact that it doesn’t belong to the DPC is not a problem. Teams hardly care about this aspect anymore, given that there are only 5 Minors and 5 Majors per season. Not to mention that serious competitors tend to skip all the Minors, simply because they qualify for the Majors directly.
The WePlay! tournament will take place in two stages. The Group Stage will have 2 groups of 4 and will be played in the GSL format. The winner of each group advances to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs Stage. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams go to the Lower Bracket. The bottom team is eliminated.
The Playoffs Stage is played once again in the double-elimination format. All matches are Bo3, apart from the Grand Final (Bo5).
The teams invited to the event are the following:
- Team Secret
- Gambit Esports
- Nigma
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Royal Never Give Up
- Infamous
- Natus Vincere
- TBD (unannounced)
China Dota2 Professional League Season 1
Finally, the third tournament on this list of Dota 2 upcoming events for 2020 is the newly created Dota 2 Professional League. The name is deceiving, simply because this is actually a short duration tournament that only lasts from February 27th until March 1st. Its prize pool is $216,000 and the number of participants is 10. Needless to say, these 10 teams are the best in the region. Here’s a list of them:
- EHOME
- Invictus Gaming
- Keen Gaming
- Newbee
- LGD
- Royal Never Give Up
- Team Aster
- Vici Gaming
- Typhoon E-Sports Club
- iG Vitality
