Audio Company EPOS Land Deal With Danish Esports Giants Heroic

Published: Feb 16, 2022

Danish Esports franchise Heroic have teamed up with the audio specialists EPOS, announcing a partnership that will mean that the team’s players and facilities will benefit from the extensive range of EPOS headsets, microphones, and other specialist audio equipment.

The news comes just a couple of months after Heroic had agreed a data partnership deal with the AI-driven audience analytics specialists Cavea.

Similarly, EPOS has also announced a deal back in January to provide their products to the BLAST Premier Series seven events in 2022. In addition, the two companies would also work on the “Push To Talk” podcast series.

EPOS, who were formerly known as Sennheiser before a rebrand in November 2019, have been making significant moves into the esports industry in recent times, agreeing other deals with Overactive Media and Cloud9 amongst other esports companies.

Similarly, Heroic’s list of partners continues to grow with the company having already agreed deals with Cavea, as mentioned above, and Red Bull to support its teams in Rocket League, PUBG, CS:GO and in the sim racing arena.

Product Development

It is easy to see why an esports franchise would want access to some of the top audio technology available nowadays.

Alongside the visual cues that players can see on screen, many games now include an auditory element that can allow players to track opponents via their sound.

Of course, the greater the technology that teams have access to, the clearer and more useful to the players on the team it becomes.

However, it is not just for scoping out enemies where audio is crucial. In a team game, devising a strategy as a unit can be critical and with so much money on the line in the top esports events, it is easy to see why teams like Heroic want access to the top technology in this area.

Alongside the provision of equipment, EPOS will have their logo displayed on the Heroic official team jersey and perhaps most excitingly for the team, their players will assist with EPOS in product development, meaning that esports stars will get a direct input into the next generation of EPOS audio products.

“Innovative Technology”

Speaking about the partnership, the Head of Esports at Heroic, Oliver Valsgaard commented:

One of the most important pieces of equipment a professional esports player needs is a great headset. We love that EPOS has such a sophisticated portfolio of audio products and innovative technology.

We are also looking forward to working closely together with EPOS, to constantly develop better audio experiences for all gamers and esports players out there.

Similarly, the Director of Global Marketing and Gaming at EPOS, Maja Sand-Grimnitz stated:

We’re really excited to start our partnership with Heroic and provide their players with premium audio equipment for gaming. As two strong brands with roots in Denmark, Heroic and the EPOS brand are a great fit, and we are looking forward to unleashing the power of audio and support Heroics journey to the top this year.

Currently the Heroic CS:GO team are in action at the IEM Katowice 2022 tournament where they face OG on Thursday morning, with esports betting sites having them as equal 5/6 chances to win the game and progress on in the $1,000,000 tournament.
