ESL One Hamburg Group Stage Results and Predictions
ESL One Hamburg is underway and the tournament has brought together 12 solid teams, to compete for a prize pool of $300.000. Right now, the competition is in its first stage but after only two days of matches, we’ve already seen the strength of Vici Gaming and TNC Predator.
ESL One Hamburg Results (So Far)
Day one and the ongoing day two of ESL One Hamburg have so far produced the following results:
Group A
- 1st place: Vici Gaming: 2 W – 1 D – 0 L
- 2nd place: Alliance: 1 W – 2 D – 0 L
- 3rd place: Virtus.pro: 1 W – 1 D – 1 L
- 4th place: beastcoast: 1 W – 0 D – 2 L
- 5th place: Fighting PandaS: 1 W – 0 D – 2 L
- 6th place: Vikin.gg: 0 W – 2 D – 1 L
Group B
- 1st place: TNC Predator: 2 W – 0 D – 0 L
- 2nd place: Ninjas in Pyjamas: 1 W – 0 D – 1 L
- 3rd place: Gambit Esports: 0 W – 2 D – 0 L
- 3rd place: Wind and Rain: 0 W – 2 D – 0 L
- 5th place: Quincy Crew: 0 W – 1 D – 1 L
- 5th place: Team Liquid: 0 W – 1 D – 1 L
By the looks of things, Vici Gaming and TNC Predator are considerably stronger than the rest. Both of them are dominating their group and have already encountered the strongest opponents. So from this point onward, they should have an easy tournament until the Playoffs.
So far, one of the disappointments of this tournament has been Team Liquid, which lost to TNC Predator and then drew against a much weaker opponent, Vikin.gg. These results show a clear lack of focus on their part, or perhaps a lack of preparation.
Another team that struggled on day one is Quincy Crew. Even though they’re still playing with SumaiL, who was asked to join as a substitute for CCnC, the North American team had to forfeit the first match (due to their roster issues) and then drew against Gambit Esports. It remains to be seen what they can do until the end of the Group Stage.

ESL One Hamburg Playoffs Predictions
Based on what we’ve seen so far, the most important teams to follow in the Playoffs will be Vici Gaming, TNC Predator and Alliance. All three of them are playing great Dota right now and showed promising results not only at this event, but also at previous events and qualifiers this season. Here’s our Dota 2 betting predictions.
Of all these teams, I would favour Vici Gaming, simply because they’re one of the Chinese giants. And although they lost their captain at the start of this new competitive season, they’re still one step above the other competitors at this competitive level. Keep in mind that ESL One Hamburg is not attended by Team Secret, OG, ex-Liquid, Evil Geniuses or even PSG.LGD. So there’s not a lot of opposition for Vici. Their only real opponents are TNC Predator and Alliance, but it’s hard to see how any of them could win a Bo3 against the two times Major champions.
