ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: Reigning Champions Withdraw

Published: Nov 10, 2023 - Last Updated: Nov 16, 2023

In a recent announcement, ESL, shared the unfortunate news of Team Spirit’s withdrawal from the upcoming ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 due to health reasons.

Team Spirit – Reigning TI Champs

The slot left vacant by Team Spirit will be passed to the Western European Closed Qualifiers, identified as the next most competitive region based on ESL rankings.

Certainly, with the favourites out, this looks to shake up the Dota 2 odds.

This shift comes after ESL’s earlier announcement on November 7th, locking in direct invites for ESL One Kuala Lumpur, and extending a warm welcome to Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, LGD Gaming, and Azure Ray.

All of these teams are considered favourites by Dota 2 betting sites following their performance at TI.

Stay tuned for the ESL One Kuala Lumpur Open Qualifiers this Sunday, promising not just Dota excitement but a down-to-earth array of fantastic onsite activities for those seeking a breather from the action.

Wishing a speedy recovery to Team Spirit and gearing up for an epic showdown in Kuala Lumpur!

Team Spirit vs [Team] Odds & Prediction: The International Grand Final ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: Changes, Challenges, and cosmic showdowns

Rising Above Fate

Dive into the heart of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, guided by the one and only Nerif, the Oracle and all-knowing seer.

Experience the clash of the top 12 teams vying for destiny in the Group Stage from December 11th to 13th. The chosen eight will battle it out at the MITEC arena for the Playoffs on December 15th – 17th. Amidst the cosmic struggle for the ESL One Trophy and a $1,000,000 prize, the question lingers – who will Rise Above Fate?

In the hands of the Oracle, outcomes remain unpredictable.

The tournament’s lineup includes four invited teams and qualifiers from:

  • Eastern Europe
  • Western Europe
  • MENA
  • China
  • Southeast Asia
  • North America
  • South America.

Group stage battles unfold in two groups, with the top two from each moving to the upper bracket. Meanwhile, 3rd to 4th place teams face off in the lower bracket, and the rest gear up for elimination.

In this gritty contest within a double-elimination bracket, all matches are best-of-three, while the Grand Final steps up the game to a best-of-five.

Power Rankings – Filling the Void

With Team Spirit out of the picture, that makes way for a new champion.

As a reminder, Team Spirit simply swept the floor at The International, defending the Aegis of Champions for the second time.

Moreover, the esports betting power rankings for ESL One Kuala Lumpar will likely be based on placings at The International.

Here’s how teams ranked at TI 2023:

  1. Team Spirit
  2. Gaimin Gladiators
  3. LGD Gaming
  4. Azure Ray

Beyond those rankings, it’s worth noting that some teams have already starting making roster changes ahead of the upcoming season. Such changes could affect Dota betting predictions.
