European ESL Mobile Open will include MENA in its second season
ESL has announced that their European ESL Mobile Open will expand to include the territories of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
This is only the second season of the European Mobile Open hosted by tournament organisers ESL. Their inaugural season was a major success and drew over 500,000 competitors to the tournament according to statistics released by ESL.
With the inclusion of the Middle East and North Africa, they are set to more than double the number of competitors taking part in the Open. The teams are competing for a share of the €85,000 prize pool.
“We’re very excited to build on the success of 2019’s Season 1 by expanding ESL Mobile Open into the MENA region for 2020, while continuing to expand in Europe. We have also introduced the game titles Auto Chess and Clash of Clans. The bar for success is high, but Season 2 will be bigger and better than its predecessor and we wish the players the best of luck in the competition.”
The tournament will run from October 12th to November 15th and will be played entirely online on mobile devices. The games included in the Open are as follows,
- Clash of Clans
- Auto Chess
- PUBG MOBILE
- Asphalt 9: Legends
This is just the second season of the European Open but the North American Mobile Open has been running for six seasons and it’s currently in the middle of the playoffs. It is great to see the expansion of mobile gaming in the esports market. By expanding to MENA this brings many underrepresented players and teams into the limelight and improves the competition.
