Evil Geniuses Complete Roster With iceiceice
Evil Geniuses has announced the signing of veteran offlaner Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang to its Dota 2 roster. Iceiceice will replace Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev in the team’s starting lineup, who was benched earlier this month.
The transfer will see iceiceice compete outside of Asia for the first time in his storied career. Considered as one of the best Dota 2 players ever to grace the game, iceiceice will definitely bring much-needed experience and star power to Evil Geniuses. In a competitive esports career spanning back to 2005, the Singaporean has most notably competed in the original DotA and Starcraft II, before switching to Dota 2 in 2011.
He competed at the first International together with Scythe Gaming, taking third place at the event. Later on, he competed for a number of teams including Zenith, Team DK, Vici Gaming, and Mineski among others. Prior to joining Evil Geniuses, iceiceice played for Fnatic most recently. He ended his two-year stint with the organization in September, citing a desire to play “for another region”, which has definitely come to fruition.
Evil Geniuses has had a tough season. Although they dominated regional events during the first half of the year, the team has been plagued by roster inconsistencies. Since the start of the year, the team has lost long-time mid-laner Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan in January, veteran offlaner Gustav “s4” Magnusson in April, and lastly RAMZES666 earlier this month.
Apart from the departures, EG has had a problem fielding its full roster due to travel restrictions caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The team has utilized substitutes for both RAMZES666 and Filipino mid-laner Abed “Abed” Yusop for most of the year, with varying degrees of success.
From the looks of things, iceiceice seems like the perfect fit for Evil Geniuses. His space creating skills are second to none in Dota 2, which on paper will nicely complement Arteezy and Abed.
Evil Geniuses are not scheduled to play any games in the near future, so it remains unknown when the new lineup will be making its official debut.
On the other hand, EG’s former offlaner RAMZES666 has already found a home with Just Error, where he is playing together with Suma1l. The team is currently competing in the EPIC League Division 1.
