FaZe vs Virtus.pro Preview
FaZe
- FaZe have taken to CS2 like a duck to water, claiming multiple impressive victories against top teams on their way to the IEM Sydney trophy.
- In fact, FaZe are currently undefeated in BO3s in CS2, and they’ll be looking to elongate that win streak in the Thunderpick WC Grand Final against Virtus.pro.
- One of the main driving forces behind the international roster’s recent uptick in performance is their AWPer broky, who has found his form transitioning into CS2 and is FaZe’s highest-rated player in the last month (1.25).
- During this event in particular, FaZe’s three musketeers in ropz, Twistzz, and the aforementioned broky have been firing on all cylinders, with all three still being in contention for the Thunderpick World Championship MVP medal.
- Twistzz’s performance is especially surprising, considering he’s rumoured to make a move to Liquid, following his last run of tournaments with FaZe.
Virtus.pro
- Virtus.pro find themselves in a second online Grand Final in the past few days, having already defeated Monte in the Roobet Cup tournament earlier this week, taking home $150,000.
- Interestingly, the two squads met again that tournament, with Monte failing to avenge themselves and falling short for the second time in the Thunderpick WC semi’s.
- Despite not attending IEM Sydney, VP have played just one less CS2 match than FaZe, which puts both teams at a similar level of experience and familiarity with the new game in an official setting. However, it has to be said that VP have put in considerably more reps in online tournaments than their Grand Final opponents.
- Virtus.pro’s road to the final wasn’t as smooth sailing as FaZe’s, as the VP team stumbled in the group stage, where they came up second best against a new look Cloud9 roster.
- In spite of the loss, VP managed to compose themselves and be the winning team in multiple close matches that followed.
Prediction
FaZe have been unstoppable in CS2 so far, only losing a single BO1 in double overtime in their first match on the new game. From then on, they never looked back and ground out wins against teams, such as Vitality, NAVI, ENCE, MOUZ, Cloud9, and many others.
However, Virtus.pro have dominated the CS2 online circuit, making their second Grand Final appearance in just a few days. According to the CS2 odds provided by Thunderpick, despite their recent run of form, a steaming hot FaZe might be too much to handle for the IEM Rio Major Champions.
- Prediction: FaZe (2-1) Virtus.pro
- Odds: FaZe Win (1.50/-200), Virtus.pro Win (2.40/+140)
- CS2 Gambling Site: Thunderpick
