GEN vs T1 Match Analysis & Odds
Gen.G was one of the big LoL Worlds favourites heading into the event, but their quarter-final win over NA’s FlyQuest has led to some serious doubts about their chances here. Gen.G was expected to easily sweep the series 3-0 and a single map win for FLY would’ve been a surprise, but the eventual 3-2 scoreline threw up series red flags for GEN who was a single game away from finding themselves on the receiving end of the biggest Worlds upset of all time.
For T1, their usual Worlds buff looks to be in full swing having just stomped Top Esports 3-0 in the quarters despite not being one of the big favourites coming into the tournament. That said, Gen.G has been their kryptonite for years so they face an uphill battle in this semi-final clash.
The immense size of T1’s fanbase, a portion of which will bet in favour of their favourite team, usually means that T1 LoL Worlds odds are skewed and show them as heavier favourites than they often actually are. That skew isn’t enough to see the odds go fully in their favour on this occasion, however, with Gen.G favourites with 1.65 odds to win the series versus T1’s 2.25.
Gen.G vs T1 our Prediction
Gen.G has beaten T1 in each of their last 10 meetings, a ridiculous record that shows the might of the MSI holders. With T1’s current rise in form and Gen.G’s potential shakiness that was seen against FLY, it’s likely that this series will be fairly close. That said, I still expect Gen.G to edge out the matchup in a 3-2 win.
Prediction: Gen.G 3-2 T1
GEN vs T1 Betting Markets
In what could, and likely will, be a closely fought series, there’s a good chance that the opening drags on with each side playing it safe to avoid starting the series on the back foot. With that in mind, there’s a decent chance that the match will reach the late game, and picking either side to win in a map 1 that lasts longer than 38 minutes currently has enticing odds of 7.00 in LoL Worlds betting.
An overall 3-2 win for Gen.G would require them to win map 5. Odds on a specific game 5 win for Gen.G currently stand at 1.88. Seeing the side earn first blood in that match has odds of 1.85 and predicting them to be the first team to reach 5 kills has 1.85 odds.
