What will the future look like? It’s an important question because it is something that the pioneers, artists, innovators, and content creators of the modern day want to shape and understand.

It is clearly something that concerns the esports community too and as such, the Global Esports Federation (GEF) has clearly had the issue at the forefront of its planning after it announced a new partnership with 888 The New World.

The aim of the partnership is to support the many and varied facets of the esports industry, its communities, its culture, and its economy to become a central thread of the digital future of entertainment across many broad forms.

Central to the partnership is the new Non-Fungible Token marketplace, which looks set to revolutionize how we view media, assets, and even art.

Esports and Art Boundaries Blurred

It is perhaps a surprising move for those who consider esports as a standalone industry that has links to others, such as streaming, betting, and even esports betting with cryptocurrencies, that the GEF has agreed to this partnership.

888 The New World is an organization that is primarily involved with the arts, media, and creative people who want to change how we appreciate and enjoy these items in the current and forthcoming digital age. Paris Hilton, for example, is one such creative that is involved in the organization.

Yet the lines between real life and art have often been blurred in the past. Andy Warhol and Peter Blake may be well known for bringing the mundane into the art mainstream through pop art, but that inclusivity of aspects of modern life being absorbed and celebrated by art has remained.

Now it appears that the esports industry is going to be an important part of that movement going forward.

“Art As Music And Gaming”

In their press release about the partnership, 888 commented that:

“Art can take many forms and expressions beyond visual experiences that today we associate with art. In our new world, I also see art as music and gaming.”

“We are honoured to partner with the Global Esports Federation as the first step in celebrating the creativity, professionalism, skill, and pure talent that can be appreciated through art, culture, and innovation of the esports community.”

“We embrace the GEF’s commitments to fostering a digital future of inclusivity and legitimacy, which aligns with the core ethos of 888 The New World.”

“Hyper-Inclusive Passion Economy”

But what about the impact this deal will have on the future of Esports gaming? Paul J. Foster, the CEO of the GEF was excited about the partnership, commenting:

“Our ambition to convene and support the world’s esports community keeps us laser-focused and energized. Our partnership with 888 The New World unlocks the vast potential for the hyper-inclusivity passion economy – bringing together artists, culturists, musicians, designers, developers, engineers, storytellers, and more – everyone who has ever had a dream, an idea to share, or a story to tell.”

“We are excited to shape this innovative new chapter together.”

It is clear there is a large overlap between the two communities and clearly, by working together, they can seek to maximize the opportunities that exist where the two overlap but now and in the future.
