BetBoom vs MOUZ Odds & Prediction: IEM Sydney Group Stage Upper Finals
After only two days of action down under we’ve said goodbye to a number of top teams, including names such as NAVI and Vitality, and it isn’t long until we find out who gets to play in front of the rowdy Australian crowd in the maiden CS2 big LAN event.
BetBoom vs MOUZ (7:30 CEST, Oct. 18)
BetBoom hit the ground running in Sydney, defeating the reigning Major Champions in the opening BO1 in a hard-fought affair. The team continued their rampage in their second game, where they made quick work of GamerLegion and booked themselves a playoff spot on the first day of the competition.
A lot of BetBoom’s success has to be attributed to their IGL, nafany, who led his teammates by example by being statistically one of the best individual performers at the tournament so far. The young squad’s fast-paced and aggressive approach seems to be working very well in the current iteration of CS2, which makes them an extremely dangerous opponent, especially this early in the game’s lifetime.
Following their win in ESL Pro League S18, MOUZ have not let their foot off the gas, winning both of their opening matches and securing their second big event playoff berth in a row. Despite the international squad’s roster troubles and having to play with Nexius in place of Jimphhat in the group stage, MOUZ looked relatively comfortable and might still be a serious contender for the IEM Sydney title.
- Prediction: BetBoom (1-2) MOUZ
- Odds: BetBoom Win (2.36), MOUZ Win (1.58)

ENCE vs G2 (10:30 CEST, Oct. 18)
The favorites meet in the Group B Upper Final, as both ENCE and G2 overcame their first two opponents in Sydney, Lynn Vision and Fnatic, and Grayhound and Complexity, respectively.
ENCE continue their great run of form, making playoffs of every tournament they attend. However, usually, it’s one of Nertz or SunPayus who leads their team to victory, but it is maden who’s the team’s highest-rated player at this point of the tournament. The current state of CS2 really suits the Montenegrian’s aggressive style of play, which might explain his uptick in performance.
Judging by the eye test, G2 looked more comfortable on the server in their first competitive CS2 games than ENCE. What greatly helped the international roster was m0NESY being on fire. The 18-year-old is sporting a ridiculously high 1.49 rating so far this event, which is a surprise, considering most AWPers seem to be struggling with the transition from CS:GO to CS2.
- Prediction: ENCE (1-2) G2
- Odds: ENCE Win (2.01), G2 Win (1.79)
