KRÜ Esports Advance to the Semifinals

The Valorant Champions quarterfinals matches have all concluded. We’re now left with two semifinals battles – the first between Team Liquid and Acend, and the second between Gambit Esports and KRÜ Esports.

Gambit Esports secured a hard victory versus X10 CRIT, while KRÜ Esports managed to overpower Fnatic and score a 2-1 win that secured them a spot among the semifinals giants.

KRÜ Esports are certainly one of the biggest surprises in this tournament, and many Valorant fans are currently rooting for this young team from Latin America.

KRÜ Esports’ Journey to the Top

Seeing KRÜ Esports in the Valorant Champions semifinals was something that nobody could have expected.

Given how they were initially in the same group with both Liquid and Sentinels, all the Valorant betting odds were stacked against them. Everyone saw Sentinels finishing first, and when they were taken down by KRÜ Esports in the decider match, it all felt a bit unreal at first.

When Sentinels fell, it was time for Fnatic to try their luck against the LATAM underdogs. These two teams clashed in Reykjavík in the first upper bracket play-in matches, and Fnatic easily overwhelmed them back then. This time, things played out a bit differently. After a fierce battle and a lot of pressure on both sides, KRÜ Esports came out on top and eliminated Fnatic.

KRÜ Esports seem to be the experts at fighting stronger teams, so we wonder whether Gambit will suffer the same fate Sentinels and Fnatic did. Gambit is a great squad, but they’ve shown some shaky moments in this esports tournament, and KRÜ Esports might capitalize on that.

Will Gambit Choke in the Semifinals?

Gambit Esports have secured a spot in the semifinals, but that result didn’t come without a lot of struggle. All the teams they faced so far proved to be quite a challenge.

We first saw how surprised they were by Team Secret, and then again when they faced Vikings. The match against X10 CRIT was no different. In all these cases, Gambit did manage to win, but they lost a single map each time. Each team found a way to break Gambit’s defenses and overwhelm them when they least expected it.

Some argue that Gambit tends to choke a lot during important match moments, but that can be the argument against any other team in this tournament. X10 showed a great performance and had a realistic chance to even beat Gambit at one point, but they simply buckled under pressure.

What’s common about all the teams Gambit faced so far is the fact that all of them had low chances of success from the very beginning, while the whole world was watching Gambit and having high expectations of them. This gave the underdog teams a lot of freedom to simply give it their best shot and hope for the best.

KRÜ Esports could be the ultimate test for Gambit Esports. They’re highly unpredictable, and they’ve just beaten both Sentinels and Fnatic, so their morale must be through the roof. If KRÜ get under Gambit’s skin and push them to make mistakes, they could potentially score yet another massive win and find themselves in the grand finals.
