Can T1 Take Back the Region?
Back in 2023, T1’s season involved consistently finishing second beneath Gen.G all year long but at Worlds 2023, they managed to clutch up and win the World Championship.
There’s no arguing with the fact that T1 is fully capable of winning this LoL tournament, even though they finished fourth in the LCK Summer Regular Season. Moreover, their recent win at the Esports World Cup seems to have awarded this roster more confidence.
With fans behind the likes of “Faker” and the rest of the team, after likely winning their opening game against KT Rolster, their fate at this tournament depends on their match-ups against Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports.
Gen.G Are Defending Champions
While T1 plays to the hearts of fans, Gen.G is the undisputed favourite at the LCK Summer Playoffs according to LoL betting sites. Finishing at the LCK Summer Regular Season with a 17-1 record, they have conquered the LCK region all season long. Moreover, they are also the defending champions from MSI 2024.
Bearing this in mind, they are the esports odds favourites for every single match-up at this tournament, with their only recent loss suffered at the Esports World Cup where they finished 5-8th.
Any slip-up, any mistake or any upset for this roster would be greatly shocking.
Hanwha Life Esports – Another Chance
This is Hanwha Life’s best chance in a long time to earn a spot at an international tournament. Constantly missing out on international tournaments at Playoffs and Regional Finals, this organization has never looked stronger.
All season long, finishing in the top 3, they recently finished second at the LCK Summer Regular Season with a 14-4 record, just under the flawless Gen.G. Rehauling this roster last November, they seem to finally be reaching their potential.
The only question they need to answer is – can they take down Gen.G to claim the direct seed for Worlds?
Dplus KIA – On a Hot Streak
At one point, Dplus KIA was risking not making it to the LCK Summer Playoffs and finishing outside of the top 6.
However, halfway through the split, this team went on an epic streak to finish the season with five wins in a row.
Packing a historic legacy in the LCK, while we’re not certain they’ll win the tournament, they could pull off an upset or two considering their recent form. Following their opening match against BNK FearX, in which they are esports favourites, it’ll be tough to face either Gen.G or Hanwha Life Esports.
