The upcoming NBA 2K League has announced a new partnership with Dell and Intel. The new collaboration announcement comes just before the launch of the inaugural season, which will start in May this year.

League to be played on PCs

The news reveals that the league’s games will be played on PCs. Dell’s gaming brand Alienware will provide hardware throughout the league’s competition, including Alienware’s 25″ 240 Hz gaming monitors. Thanks to Intel, the PCs will run on 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700K processors, making sure that top performance is guaranteed.

“Our partnerships with Dell and Intel give us the ability to utilize state-of-the-art hardware and technology that will optimize league play and the viewing experience for fans around the world,” said NBA 2K League Managing Director Brendan Donohue. “The combination of Alienware and Intel will advance the elite gaming experience and we are thrilled to incorporate two of the top products and brands throughout the NBA 2K League during our inaugural season, and beyond.”

By utilizing PC hardware, players will now be able to use the controller of their choice – PS4 or Xbox One. This should enable them to have the gaming fit they’re most used to.

“Our commitment to enabling esports leagues, teams and professionals to perform at their best continues to excite and invigorate our team,” said Dell Gaming, Alienware and Esports Director Bryan de Zayas. “We are proud to partner with the NBA 2K League and Intel as the exclusive PC and displays provider bringing the best in class gaming systems and displays to the newly formed NBA 2K League and its players.  Our partnership continues to close the gap between traditional sports fans and esports fans while delivering the world-class gaming and viewing experience fans expect and deserve.”

“Intel plans to provide the best gaming experience for competitors and fans through its cloud to client solutions,” said Intel Corporation VR, Gaming and Esports Group VP and General Manager John Bonini. “Intel has been a leader in the growth of the esports industry and community for more than 15 years, and the NBA 2K League’s fresh format will be a great showcase for esports.”

Play begin is May 2018

The launch of the league’s inaugural season is set for May this year. 102 of the best NBA 2K players representing 17 teams will play for prize and glory. Shortly after announcing the league last year, the organizers saw great interest for the competition, receiving commitment from 17 teams.

The inaugural draft is planned for Wednesday, April 4th, which will also offer more details for the upcoming tournament. While Dell and Intel will provide hardware for the competition, the two companies will also be involved in other ways.

Dell, with its Alienware brand, was chosen as the presenting partner for the NBA 2K League Draft Clash. It’s a tournament taking place on April 6th that will feature 10 of the top picks from the inaugural NBA 2K League Draft. Additionally, Alienware will also serve as the presenting partner for the NBA 2K League Halftime Show.

Intel, on the other hand, will serve as the presenting partner of the NBA 2K League Studio. The company’s processors will provide the technology infrastructure for all regular season games, tournaments, and playoffs.
