How Good Could The New And Improved FaZe Clan Be?
The rumors were finally confirmed yesterday: Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer has replaced Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey on FaZe Clan’s roster.
The team also recently traded Aleksi “allu” Jalli for Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs. Now that the Call of Duty-rooted organization has a roster of, essentially, 2015 CS:GO superstars, what comes next?
The G2 effect
For those who remember, G2 also acquired a superstar roster back in February. The roster of EnVyUs stars Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, and Kenny “kennyS” Schrub was supposed to steamroll anything in its way. However, in their first match against their old teammates at EnVyUs, supercharged by Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom and Cedric “RpK” Guipouy at that point, G2 was embarrassingly defeated.
Many argue GuardiaN and Olofmeister’s primes were both sometime in 2015 and that bringing them onto FaZe simply for their reputation as star players could have a disappointing effect.
Karrigan’s IGL abilities
It is no surprise by now that Finn “Karrigan” Andersen is one of the best Danish IGLs in the game.
There is a chance Karrigan could bring the new roster together and make them into an unstoppable killing machine. Perhaps he could give Olofmeister the motivation he lacked in his last few months of Fnatic and GuardiaN the freedom he needs as an AWPer.
If Karrigan leads well, GuardiaN AWPs well, Olofmeister plays like it’s 2015, and Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Havard “rain” Nygaard continue to be consistent players, this roster will be unstoppable.
What lies ahead for FaZe?
That’s a lot of pieces that need to fall into place though. If all goes well, we could very well have a top five roster here.
If that happens, the betting odds for both FaZe and Fnatic could significantly change, with FaZe’s rising and Fnatic’s potentially dropping if Maikil” Golden” Selim and Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson don’t perform up to par.
It could take some time for the new rosters to find a play style that works for them, much like with G2 when they bounced back after their initial loss.
