North American Teams Gear Up for a New League of Legends LCS Season
The North American LCS was once again the biggest disappointment at the LoL Worlds, but its finest teams return into the spotlight.
Starting this weekend, ten clubs will compete for another chance to prove that this region has plenty to offer on the biggest stage. Team Liquid, Cloud9 & Team Solomid are once again the main favorites, but there’s a chasm separating them, as reflected by the esports odds on the outright winners.

Team Liquid was unstoppable last season and in spite of failing miserably against the best South Korean, Chinese and Europeans, they are still LCS favorites. League of Legends fans willing to bet on them to retain their crown will be paid at even odds by Betway esports. At 4/1, Cloud9 should be able to challenge them throughout the season but past performance indicates their inability to win when it matters the most.
Team Solomid come in third with odds of 7/1, mainly because of their inability to build long winning streaks. CLG are not among the favorites, but last season they earned their reputation of giant killers, by defeating some of the biggest LCS teams. Evil Geniuses, join the fray with a new team and they rely mainly on Svenskeren and Jiisuke to bring the odds of 20/1 to fruition.
Team Liquid and Cloud9 Play the First Derby
North American League of Legends fans are in for a treat as the opening match of the new season pits the best teams against each other. Team Liquid and Cloud9 have the chance to start their campaign with a victory over their arch-rivals, as they meet in the opening match. The reigning champions are credited with the first chance after strengthening their roster, while their rivals failed to retain some of the key players.
Cloud9 should be able to recuperate the points lost the very next day against the Golden Guardians. In this match, they start with the first chance and odds of 1/4, while the underdogs are priced at 3/1 by ArcaneBet. This is the most lopsided match of the first round, but Team Solomid are also clear favorites against Immortals. A bet on the favorites will produce odds of 1/3, as opposed to 2/1 on the underdogs.
High Expectations for Evil Geniuses
Evil Geniuses have just entered the League of Legends LCS, but they have some experienced players in their starting formation. The lines of Svenskeren and Jiisuke are expected to carry and they will receive a lot of support from former Cloud9 members Kumo and Zeyzal.
In the opening match, they play against Team Dignitas and then they take on 100 Thieves in the last match of the round. Evil Geniuses are favorites in both games, with odds of 11/20, respectively 13/20 and we trust them to top the NA LCS standings at the end of the weekend.
