Nerd Street Gamers Reveal Their Own Multi-Esport Tournament Circuit

Published: Mar 7, 2022

Fresh from announcing their partnership with FTX, the Bahamian-based cryptocurrency exchange, Nerd Street Gamers have also announced that they are founding a brand new multi-esport tournament circuit.

The new tournament circuit will be called the Nerd Street Champs and its main sponsor will be Mike And Ike, the fruit-based confectionery company, as well as the gaming chair specialists Mavix Gaming.

Tournament Details

The details of the tournament, which is due to start in April 2022, will see the Nerd Street Champs expanded to be contested across four different esports.

Halo Infinite and Madden 22 will join VALORANT and Apex Legends in being part of the tournament this year and once again, there will be a series of weekly and monthly tournaments for players and teams to compete in starting in April.

Each weekly tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of $2,500, while if players can battle their way through to the Grand Finals of an event, then they will be battling it out for a share of a $50,000 prize pool.

Through competing in the weekly tournaments, the competitors will be able to collect points through their performances in the events, to earn a place at the Grand Finals later in the year, in a similar way to how top esports events such as the Dota Pro Circuit works.

The tournament will be a mix of online tournaments and LAN competitions. The organisers will use its Localhost facilities to be able to host the in-person events.

We are excited to take the next step in our Championships product by expanding our competition offerings to include Halo Infinite and Madden NFL 22,” said Stephen Csikos, the Head of Programming at Nerd Street Gamers.

A new season brings new stories and we at Nerd Street are fired up to see who will rise to champions.

Creating connected opportunities that originate online and at Localhost facilities is a core tenet of the Nerd Street Championship. Not only will competitors be able to participate in person at qualifying LAN events, but there will be opportunities to qualify through online events as well.

Why is Nerd Street Champs Important?

At the highest level of esports, the top players have a chance to earn huge salaries competing in big events with multi-million dollar prize pools available. These events also generate huge interest via their live streams and also through esports betting on the events.

However, at lower levels of the game, there are fewer tournaments available where developing players can cut their teeth so to speak and gain experience of playing in competitive events to develop their skills further.

The Nerd Street Champs will allow players of the four different esports that are part of the series to hone their skills against similar ability teams and players, with a decent sized prize pool up for grabs for them.

What Nerd Street have realised is that there is a void of top-quality grassroots level esports tournaments in many cases and their Nerd Street Champs will certainly help fill that void.
