OPPO becomes official smartphone partner for LoL esports
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has been named as being the official smartphone partner for League of Legends competitive gaming. The deal between OPPO and Riot Games will run for five years and it will begin at the forthcoming Worlds 2019 tournament.
OPPO has previously sponsored major football teams like Barcelona as well as Wimbledon, but they are looking to get serious about esports. By becoming a global partner with Riot Games, OPPO will feature at all international LoL events until 2024.
OPPO TO PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE LOL FOOTAGE
The partnership deal with see OPPO providing exclusive content that should be noted by anybody with an interest in LoL betting. This is because OPPO will deliver behind-the-scene reports and guides to some of the newcomers to the international LoL scene. There will be a regular spotlight series that should be able to help in identifying tournament dark horses and the most promising new players.
In terms of the actual broadcasts, OPPO will have a special camera that offers exclusive footage in the later stages of the LoL World Championship. By following the action on the OPPO Cam, gamers will get to see what really goes on at these esports tournaments. Expect to see weird and wonderful cosplay and some revealing behind-the-scenes antics of the biggest LoL teams.
OPPO’s partnership deal will also see the smartphone manufacturer getting to present the prize for the Most Valuable Player. This will be presented at the World Championship and the Mid-Season Invitational contests.
The Chinese phone company are set to put on a series of special promotions to celebrate their arrival as the official smartphone partner of LoL esports. This will give League of Legends fans the chance to attend an event like the World Championship, the All-Star Event, or the Mid-Season Invitational.

BIG SPONSORSHIP DEALS TO BOOST LOL ESPORTS
The deal between Riot Games and OPPO marks the latest big partnership for the upcoming League of Legends tournaments. Riot Games have previously inked deals with major brands like MasterCard, Alienware, State Farm and Secretlab for LoL esports. In addition to this, the French fashion house Louis Vuitton will be creating the trophy case for the Summoner’s Cup.
League of Legends is arguably the world’s most popular esport. Recent tournaments like the LoL Worlds 2018 were watched by more people than many of the biggest sporting events. This means that sponsors will be desperate to have their brand introduced amongst a hard-to-reach younger demographic.
While OPPO are relatively unknown for Western consumers, they are currently the top smartphone brand in China in 2019. The deal with Riot Games is sure to boost the profile of OPPO amongst the millions of gamers who will be streaming the upcoming LoL Worlds 2019 contest.
