Spanish esports organization has G2 Esports announced a global partnership with the American computer peripherals company Logitech G. The deal will see all G2’s teams compete with Logitech products including mice, keyboard, and headsets in upcoming tournaments.
A top team partners with a top market player
Both G2 Esports and Logitech are among the leaders in their fields.
G2 boasts top-performing teams in multiple esports scenes, including CS:GO and League of Legends. The organization has only been around for three years and already has 12 teams with 54 players. What’s more, the organization pocketed 78 awards since its inception.
Logitech G, a brand of Logitech International, is among the top PC gaming gear providers. Founded over 30 years ago, the company is a household name when it comes to computer accessories.
G2 players will be testing Logitech’s wireless products during various competitions. While wired mice are the preferred choice for pro gamers, new tech is slowly changing that.
“Our teams have been using, and winning, with Logitech G products for years,” said G2 Esports CEO Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez. “We’re excited about our partnership with Logitech because both organizations share a deep passion for the industry, a dedication to hard work and a commitment to winning.”
With G2’s recent application to the North American League of Legends Championship Series being denied, the Logitech deal is a welcome bit of news.
Sponsorship, technology, and new product research
G2 players will join their new partner’s roster of product testers, giving feedback on the usability and quality of Logitech mice, keyboards, and other items.
The new product research will, according to the company, help “continue Logitech G’s leadership in developing professional grade gaming peripherals for top esports athletes around the world.”
“G2 is one of the most exciting teams in esports, and we love the fact that some of their pros have been using our wireless gear in competition,” said Logitech Gaming VP and General Manager Ujesh Desai. “We’re excited about this partnership and look forward to leveraging their expertise to develop even more wireless gaming gear for pros.”
Besides G2, Logitech’s roster of elite esports teams includes Cloud 9, TSM, and NRG.
G2 extending its reach
G2’s partnership announcement comes after a recent funding round completed in August. The diverse group of investors included FC Barcelona midfielder André Gomes, as well as hedge fund manager Eric Mindich. His investment firm, Eton Park Capital Management, had peak assets under management of $14 billion (as of 2011).
“With this group, we are confident that we can continue on our growth path, build world-class teams and create cutting-edge content,” Rodriguez said in August. “G2 is thrilled to bring partners on board that are both passionate about esports and committed to our global growth.”
