Riot Reveals New Sentinel Agent
It has been roughly three months since the last time we saw a new agent being added into Valorant. Agent 16, KAY/O, was the latest addition to the agent pool and it brought a ton of control and suppression into the mix.
Riot Games have now teased a new agent that’s on the horizon, but they haven’t gone into any specifics just yet. We do know that the agent will be a Sentinel and that it’ll have a unique twist. The agent will focus on mechanical outplays and gunplay, making it highly versatile and potentially redefining how we view the role of a Sentinel.
The Mystery Agent
So now we know that Valorant is getting another Sentinel agent. Right now, out of sixteen agents in total, there’s only three Sentinel agents. All three are focused heavily on locking down areas and key positions, allowing their team to work their magic and win rounds. Additionally, all Sentinels are more defense-oriented rather than being aggressive and offensive agents.
All of this could change with the introduction of this new mystery Sentinel agent.
Riot stated the following:
We took a step back and thought about different ways to provide another Sentinel to the roster. A Sentinel that focuses on mechanical outplays, with an additional focus of gunplay into the mix for an extra flourish.
By this description, we can conclude that this agent could perhaps be some sort of a hybrid between a Sentinel and a Duelist. The gunplay aspect especially hints towards this being the case. As for the mechanical outplays, that just further ties into the idea of the new agent being a mix between the two. If true, it could change the current Valorant Champions Tour meta.
Deadeye
A few months ago, an agent codenamed “Deadeye” was leaked. The few images the community got hold of featured a well-dressed man wielding a huge gun. Although this is not confirmed by Riot, it is suspected that the new Sentinel agent is in fact Deadeye.
In their yesterday’s post about the state of the agents, Riot didn’t leave us much to work with. However, the final words they left us with could be the exact information we’re looking for.
We won’t reveal much more, just know that once you achieve that dream moment, it will be magnifique!
The word “magnifique” seems to have been used intentionally to give one final clue without spoiling the grand reveal. This word could perhaps allude to the new agent being French, and seems to fit perfectly with the image of the leaked Deadeye.
For now, the community is still speculating and nothing has been confirmed by Riot, but there’s reasonable amount of evidence to suggest this actually being Deadeye.
When Do We Get to Play It?
There’s no information in regards to the release of the new agent. However, the fact Riot is teasing the agent now means that it’s close to being finished. They even said they were “refining” their upcoming agent, which further suggests they’re simply adding the finishing touches.
When it does come out, Valorant betting odds are that it’s not going to be playable in Valorant Champions Tour, at least not until the players are given enough time to test him properly. The VCT Champions could be the first time we get to see the new agent live in action, provided it gets released soon.
