Gen.G Start with a Slump
As one of the Rocket League betting favourites from North America, Gen.G Mobil1 Racing buckled under the pressure as they suffered a huge upset loss to PWR – a team rated by betting sites to finish in the bottom six teams.
Yet, Gen.G does have the benefit of the doubt considering it was their first match of the tournament, citing ‘rustiness’ as a possible excuse. Regaining quickly after their win over Limitless, they now face Team BDS in one of the best matches of Round 3 for RLCS betting.
Team BDS Face Falcons Early
The two best teams in the world faced off as early as Round 2, with the Falcons taking down Team BDS in 3:1 fashion. Besides that match, Team BDS were as proficient as ever in their victory over Oxygen Esports to secure their first win.
However, as we mentioned, the pressure is on in their upcoming match against Gen.G. After winning the Esports World Cup recently and placing second at last year’s RLCS World Championship, all eyes are on Team BDS to bounce back from this early loss.
Top 4 Matches – FURIA are frauds?
At the top of the pile are four teams who are currently undefeated.
Out of the four teams, G2 Stride and FURIA Esports stick out as teams that have benefitted from an easier schedule. Specifically, G2 has only faced Limitless and PWR, while FURIA Esports made quick work of OG and Karmine Corp.
While we’re not calling them frauds, their next matches will truly test them.
Meanwhile, Falcons had to take down Team BDS while Gentle Mates fought tooth-and-nail to silence Team Vitality in the best series of the RLCS World Championship – ending after 5 epic maps in a 3:2 scoreline. Considering this, Falcons and Gentle Mates are looking like likely RLCS winners.
A Battle for Top 8
Otherwise, the bottom is no surprise, as all four teams were predicted to end their according to the esports odds.
Meanwhile, in the 1-1 range, several teams could pull off an upset to try and make it into the top 8.
In its most volatile state, we have our eyes on PWR and Oxygen Esports who could shake things up. In addition, Karmine Corp and Spacestation have also looked steady. Meanwhile, Gen.G or Team BDS will have to fight out of a 1-2 hole to try to stay alive.
