Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is Live!
Following the announcement of Hextech Mayhem last week, Riot Forge, a publishing label within Riot Games, also unveiled the release of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. The player and developer-focused publisher is looking to bring new League of Legends games to the players, as Riot Games has been going crazy with its projects lately. Starting from Nov. 16, both Ruined King and Hextech Mayhem will be available to play.

Ruined King is a turned-based single-player RPG
Developed by Airship Syndicate, the creators of Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Darkside Genesis, Ruined King was released by surprise on Tuesday, Nov. 16. The game was supposed to launch in early 2021, but it was delayed until an unspecified time later this year. The release coincided with Hextech Mayhem, a rhythm game developed by Choice Provisions.
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is set in Bilgewater, “a port city like no other—home to serpent hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world.” Champions like Illaoi, Graves, Gangplank, and Miss Fortune all come from that region. The goal of the game is to explore Bilgewater and set sail for the Shadow Isles to uncover the secrets of the deadly Black Mist.
Players will take control of League of Legends champions such as Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, alongside some of the Bilgewater characters. There will also be cameos along the journey and you’ll be able to fight some of them as your enemies.
Speaking of enemies, all of your encounters with them will play out in the Combat Scene. Combat is turn-based and ends when all enemies have been defeated. Make sure to conserve your champions’ Health and Mana pools as they will persist from one battle to another: leaving the best resources for more challenging enemies is key to success.
Where can you play Ruined King: A League of Legends Story?
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store, for $29.99. The new generation consoles Xbox Series S/X and PS5 will have to wait a little longer, as the game should come out soon. Fortunately for the player, the old gen versions will be compatible with the new ones, and all owners will get a free upgrade when they are going to be live.
A digital deluxe edition is also available for $39.99 and will include Ruined King skins for Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Pyke, Ahri, and Yasuo, the Ruination starter pack, and some other additional items. In addition, a physical Collector’s Edition of the game is available for $129.99 and it will include an art book, an exclusive sketch by Joe ‘Mad’ Madureira, CEO of Airship Syndicate, a 12-inch vinyl soundtrack, a cloth map of Bilgewater, a notebook and pen, and a Bilgewater mug.
During the release of Hextech Mayhem and Ruined King, Riot Forge also revealed two new League-based games: Song of Nunu and CONV/RGENCE and they will be available sometime next year.
Riot Games decided to go all out this year, as announcements have been blowing up left and right. Aside from these League of Legends-related games, Riot also released their first-ever animated series Arcane, with some of the highest viewership numbers on Netflix.
