Seeding Decider TI13 Match Odds
In this Seeding Decider previews, we’re taking a closer look at each of the eight matches, the Dota 2 TI schedule and their respective odds from GG.BET.
Liquid vs BetBoom – Heavy Hitters
- 06/09 @ 13:00 CEST – Team Liquid (-209/1.48) vs BetBoom Team (+154/2.54)
Clearly the best Seeding Decider TI13 match there is, BetBoom’s struggle in Group C against Team Zero has set up this early heavyweight fight.
Ahead of the tournament, BetBoom was considered one of the Dota 2 TI teams with a chance to make it far after placing second at multiple international events. Meanwhile, Liquid performed as expected in their group, only losing to Team Spirit.
Considering the upset for BetBoom, the odds are in favour of Liquid – but it could go either way.
Team Zero – Academy Young Guns
- 06/09 @ 19:00 CEST – Team Zero (-136/1.74) vs Aurora Gaming (+100/2.00)
As the most exciting storyline at The International, Xtreme’s academy team has wreaked havoc on the competition. Although we did paint them as a wildcard in our Dota 2 TI power rankings, nobody expected them to sweep the likes of BetBoom.
Their next challenge is the best-of-the-best from Southeast Asia, Aurora. If they can confidently take them down, although the odds predict a closer match-up, Zero could be a dangerous team in the Dota 2 TI Brackets.
Cloud9 Upset Group B
- 06/09 @ 16:00 CEST – Cloud9 (-264/1.38) vs 1win (+188/2.88)
Another upset was Cloud9 claiming the first seed for Group B against all odds. Doing so involved placing above G2 x iG and Tundra Esports. Re-entering Dota after signing the Entity roster, this team is already performing much better than expected.
Facing them are Eastern European hopefuls, 1win Team. This Tier 2 roster was always an underdog at The International, earning a spot after winning the Eastern Europe Qualifier. Tied for third place in Group A, they aren’t favoured in the match against Cloud9.
Gladiators and Tundra Favoured
- 07/09 @ 19:00 CEST – Gaimin Gladiators (-358/1.28) vs G2.iG (+250/3.50)
- 07/09 @ 13:00 CEST – Tundra Esports (-304/1.33) vs Team Heroic (+214/3.14)
Another two Seeding Decider matches have two Western Europe teams, Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports, favoured to win.
Gaimin Gladiators were stunned by a sweep from Xtreme Gaming early on, but they regained quickly to hold on to the second spot in Group A. Although G2 x iG is considered a respectable team, their performance in Group B was poor.
Meanwhile, Tundra Esports should handle the bottom seed from Group A with ease.
One-sided Matches
Due to the format, it’s intended that heavy favourites face off against underdogs to reward teams for doing well in the Group Stage.
Accordingly, certain matches are incredibly one-sided as exemplified by the following odds provided by Dota 2 TI betting sites:
- 06/09 @ 10:00 CEST – Xtreme Gaming (-1429/1.07) vs Talon Esports (+653/7.53)
- 07/09 @ 10:00 CEST – Team Falcons (-2500/1.04) vs beastcoast (+848/9.48)
- 07/09 @ 16:00 CEST – Team Spirit (-910/1.11) vs nouns (+482/5.82)
While an upset is possible, it’s extremely unlikely.
