Sentinels Cruise Through NA Challengers Playoffs

Published: Aug 16, 2021

Sentinels have once again proven to be the kings of the NA Valorant scene after winning the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 3: Challengers Playoffs. They faced off against 100 Thieves in the Grand Final and secured a convincing 3-1 victory.

The success this Valorant team has achieved so far has been astounding. Not only have they dominated the entire North American region, but when presented with foreign challengers, they still emerged on top. Right now they can enjoy their well-deserved victory before heading into new challenges at the upcoming VCT Masters – Berlin.

An Epic Grand Final

The VCT NA Stage 3 – Challengers Playoffs concluded yesterday, and we were treated to an epic Grand Final match between Sentinels and 100 Thieves.

Both teams had a smooth journey to the top. Sentinels took out Team Envy and Rise before first facing 100 Thieves in the Upper Bracket Final. 100 Thieves, on the other hand, cleanly disposed of FaZe and XSET.

The Upper Bracket Finals went to Sentinels, and after dropping down to the Lower Bracket, 100 Thieves found themselves facing Envy. After an incredible match, 100 Thieves won and moved forward into the Grand Final for a rematch with Sentinels.

Map 1 on Bind finished with 13-11 for Sentinels. They gained an early advantage in the first half but 100 Thieves started closing the gap in the second, although not successfully. Map 2 went to 100 Thieves after they managed to turn things around in the second half again.

At this point it was 1-1 and the teams were heading into map 3 on Haven. This is when Sentinels completely took control and retained it until the very end. Eventually, the match ended with 3-1 for Sentinels, securing them yet another victory in the Valorant Champions Tour.

Who can stop Sentinels

At this point it’s safe to say that the entire North American region stands no chance against Sentinels.

100 Thieves had two opportunities to take down Sentinels in the Challengers Playoffs, first during Upper Bracket Finals and then Grand Finals. The best they managed to achieve was to win a single map. If 100 Thieves is one of the best teams in NA Valorant, then what can be expected from the rest?

XSET’s surprise victory against Sentinels during Stage 3 Challengers 1 shook the world, but all it actually did was jolt Sentinels back into serious mode. Once the two squads met again in the Challengers 1 Grand Final, it was a completely different story.

Sentinels are on a different level from the rest. The offensive trio with TenZ, Sick, and ShahZaM is enough to take down any opponent, but on the other hand, dapr and zombs serve as an impenetrable wall that prevents anyone from breaking in. This ideal squad reigns supreme in NA, but perhaps some other regions will manage to properly challenge the kings in VCT Masters – Berlin.
