Team Oplon vs Misfits Premier: LFL 2022 Summer Predictions

The LFL Summer 2022 is heading into the last week of its round robin, and Misfits Premier will square off against Team Oplon in the final round of matches on Thursday. MSFP will want to cement their spot in the playoffs, while OPL might like to end their tough season on a slightly happier note. In our League of Legends betting section, we think MSFP are the likelier of the two sides to come out on top.

Misfits Premier

MSFP are tied at fifth place on the rankings along with Karmine Corp, and they have an even eight wins and eight losses from their sixteen games this season. They’ve been flying below the radar in 2022 compared to previous seasons of the LFL, and the way things are going, it looks like this season will be a repeat of the spring. It is not surprising that the LoL odds are in favor of Misfits Premier.

They qualified for the playoffs back then as well after ending in the top four, but crashed out in the very first round 0-3 to Vitality Bee. It’s a winding road to the playoffs for teams that finish below the top two, and considering MSFP have already been battered by the top teams, the chances of them repeating the magic of their LFL summer title in 2021 are slim.

Shlatan returns to the playing unit

MSFP announced a surprise change to their roster this week with their jungler Nikolay ‘Zanzarah’ Akatov moving to their LEC squad. This concludes his short stay with the team after he was signed ahead of the summer split in May. Zanzarah has been replaced by Lucjan ‘Shlatan’ Ahmad, who has been part of the roster for several seasons but hasn’t got a game this split.

Zanzarah’s performances this season have been par, at best; his kill rate of 2.13 among the lowest of his teammates, his death rate of 3.31 the highest. Whether Shlatan will make the required impact remains to be seen, but many might consider it a risky move to tamper with your playing side on the brink of the playoffs. On the other hand, Shlatan was part of the MSFP’s victorious 2021 summer campaign, and is already familiar with the squad, so he might be just the talisman they need.

MSFP’s kill to death ratio is 0.96, on the undesirable side of the spectrum. They have 12.4 kills per game but their death rate is higher, 12.9. Still, they will take solace in the fact their tower kill rate is 6.4, placing them up among the top teams. MSFP have dealt a DPM of 2120, which is among the lowest across all sides, a metric they’d want to examine.

MSFP are coming off a two-match losing streak to the dominant LDLC OL and Team BDS Academy, worrying signs considering these are the teams they will face again in the playoffs. They have beaten Team Oplon on the previous occasion they’d met in the split, so they’ll back themselves to come out on top in this encounter too.

Team Oplon

This year marks OPL’s first appearance in the LFL. Their spring split was dismal with them securing just two wins in the round robin. The results haven’t improved drastically over the summer, but the four victories they have managed are still better than the spring, and will undoubtedly give their confidence a much-needed boost.

OPL certainly aren’t in the same league as say, LDLC or Karmine Corp, but great teams aren’t born overnight, and OPL have shown some promise. There are plenty of learnings that they will take away from this tournament, despite ending second-to-last on the rankings. Last spring they were the league’s punching bags, but now that status has fallen to the beleaguered Mirage Elyandra.

OPL may have lost eight games this summer, but some of their victories have been highly satisfying. For a team playing just their second LFL split, they’ve managed to put a win each past Gameward and Karmine Corp. Those are two of the better teams this season, and have been around for a while. OPL also beat Team GO, who stand higher than they do on the split rankings.

OPL has a kill rate of 9.8, while succumbing to 16.3 deaths per game. They have 3.8 tower kills per game while losing 8.6, so they might want to take a look at their defensive strategy. Their CSPM stands at 31.6.

Team Oplon vs Misfits Premier Predictions

OPL have already gone down to MSFP in their previous encounter in the split. They don’t hold the edge and the result is likely to go the same way, but OPL will carry over the confidence they’ve regained from the victory of their game. Still, we are backing Misfits Premier in this match in our LoL predictions.
