Thunderpick and the*gamehers to Co-Host the CS2 Wildcard Tournament at MomoCon
Online esports bookmaker Thunderpick is teaming up with women-focused community gaming platform the*gamehers to co-host the Counter-Strike 2 Wildcard Tournament at this year’s MomoCon, starting this weekend.
The CS2 tournament will feature female-led teams as part of the*gamehers Cup, with the winner heading to Thunderpick World Championship 2024 North American Qualifiers. There they’ll compete for a $25,000 prize pool and an opportunity to attend the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 with its $1 million prize pool.
The*gamehers Cup will consist of four teams: FlyQuest Red, Shimmer, Karma, and Limitless Angels.
The event will follow a single elimination format and have a prize pool of $5,000, with the first-place team taking home $3,500 and second place taking home $1,500.
What’s more, the tournament will be streamed live on Twitch, as part of MomoCon 2024 broadcast. Taking place on May 26 from 11am to 4pm ET, the event will also feature a live viewing party with members of the*gamehers community of streamers.
As per a release on Wednesday (May 22), this collaboration between Thunderpick and the*gamehers announced January 2024 aims to “foster and increase support for femme-led esports organizations by giving them a platform to compete and qualify for the Thunderpick World Championship North America qualifier.” More recently, they had announced the launch of the Pink Picks Weekly Award.
Kelly Sanders, head of strategy at Thunderpick weighed in on the incredible opportunity the The*gamehers Cup presented:

As mentioned, the event will take place as part of the schedule of MomoCon, an anime, gaming, animation, and nerd culture convention that takes place every year in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
This year, the convention will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Downtown Atlanta, with the Gaming Convention portion taking place from Friday May 24 to Monday May 27.
