Unicorns of Love Release Their Entire LCL Roster

“We accept the fact that players need constant development, and winning everything in the LCL for three years… it’s time to move to the next level,” the organization said. “It’s time to try yourself in Europe—in EU Masters and in LEC.”

Unicorns of Love’s Recent History

The team has won four LCL titles from the beginning of 2020. They have always been the CIS representative at every international tournament since then. In Worlds 2020, UOL managed to qualify for the Groups Stages, although they weren’t able to advance further.

This year, they went to Iceland for both the Mid-Season Invitational and Worlds 2021. However, the results weren’t that great.
At MSI, Unicorns of Love failed to reach the next stage. Considering that their group was composed of 3 teams, due to the VCS team GAM Esports being unable to participate, the Unicorns had almost a guaranteed ticket to the Rumble Stage. That, though, did not happen, as they lost the tie-breaker to the LCO Representative Pentanet.GG.

Making LoL Betting on PGG was one of the best chances fans had this year to earn some good cash, and many other chances will come in the future, with more and more esports tournaments around the globe.

At Worlds 2021, things got even worse. During the play-ins stage, UOL never seemed like a strong team that could compete for a spot in the Groups Stage. They only won one match against Cloud9, but then UOL failed to win yet another tie-breaker, this time against the PCS team Beyond Gaming.

The announcement marks a new chapter for all the players, considering that everyone has played in UOL for two years. The only exception is ADC Argonavt, who joined at the beginning of the summer split. Unfortunately, they will all have to find a new home.

What will happen next?

The players are hoping to seize some opportunities in Europe. Out of the five, Nomanz and AHaHaCIK are probably the two with the highest chances of competing in the LEC. The others, instead, will likely need to start from EU Masters or other Regional Leagues.

As for the organization, UOL is planning on rebuilding an entirely new roster ahead of the upcoming spring split. It might be a very hard process, considering the limited talent and resources in the CIS. Also, we will have to see what is the plan for the organization.

Are they going to pick up some rookies and look to grow them into World-class talents, or will they pick up experienced players to continue their legacy? Based on their announcement, the second solution is a lot more likely. Anyway, we’ll just have to wait for the announcement, which will probably come at the beginning of next year!
