VALORANT Champions 2024 Playoffs Teams Analysis
These eight remaining teams are battling for the 2024 World Championship title and a $2,250,000 prize pool. For you VALORANT betting fans out there, let’s take a closer look at the final eight teams.
Fnatic – Looking Shaky?
Seeding for VALORANT Champions with a strong legacy and high hopes, Fnatic seemed like one of the top teams at the tournament. While their talent is undisputed, they suffered a significant upset against DRX which nobody expected, losing in a strong sweep due to their weakness on Lotus. Luckily, they bounced back with a win over KRU Esports.
Now, their match against Team Heretics is a true test for this team, a regional rematch. After Heretics beat them three times in Stage 2, Fnatic looked weaker than ever. Accordingly, it was quite a surprise when Fnatic took down Team Heretics in 3-2 fashion in the Grand Final – can they replicate this performance?
Heretics – Tough Team
After finishing 2nd at VCT Masters Shanghai, the youngsters on Heretics were feeling themselves. Swapping back to their star duelist “MiniBoo”, they did suffer a small dip in form at VCT 2024 EMEA Stage 2 as they revised their teamwork and faced some top teams.
Seeded as the second-best team from VCT EMEA, Heretics have not had it easy. Seeded into Group B, they’ve taken down Gen.G and FunPlus Phoenix to prove their worth.
Armed with experience and young firepower, Heretics are hoping to put on a show against their rivals Fnatic at the most prestigious VALORANT tournament .
Sentinels – Squeaking By
Meanwhile, Sentinels have had to fight long and hard to make it into the Playoffs. Seeded as a weaker team, only clenching a place on the back of their win at VCT Masters Madrid, they have been underdogs despite the love from their fanbase.
Starting with a 2-0 loss to Gen.G, concerns grew for this shaky team. In the Elimination Match, they faced a very weak FunPlus Phoenix, rescheduling them to rematch Gen.G to qualify. In one of the most surprising games of the tournament, Sentinels swept Gen.G aside to seed to the Playoffs.
In their match-up against DRX they will need to be extra careful regarding their poor map pool or they could be caught out.
Trace Esports – True Thrill
Without a doubt, Trace Esports is the most exciting team at VALORANT Champions right now. Taking down, against all odds, the likes of Team Vitality and Leviatan, nobody expected them to be where they are right now.
Then again, for this Chinese team, there’s a lot stacked against them. Besides their lack of experience on the international stage, they no longer have the element of surprise. Moreover, it’s unlikely anybody else will play them on Ascent and Bind – the only two maps they’ve won at the tournament so far.
We’re hoping Trace has more tricks up their sleeves and more frag movies for us at the VALORANT Champions Playoffs.
DRX – Welcome Back
Is DRX back? After missing out on multiple international competitions, this former VALORANT powerhouse rebuilt its roster with two new signings in 2024 – “BeYN” and “Flashback”.
Storming to the top of VALORANT Pacific, this team does have weaknesses such as their Haven, but look a lot stronger on other maps – resulting in them sweeping aside Fnatic in 2-0 fashion after fending off KRU Esports.
Now facing Sentinels, both teams have a similar profile of being slightly flawed but with fantastic potential, placing huge emphasis on the map veto process.
G2 Esports – Quiet Favourites
Time and time again, G2 Esports keep consistently performing well and VALORANT Champions has seen them maintain their form. Taking down Paper Rex in a dominant 2-0 fashion, G2 Esports continue to squeeze out tight wins against the very best teams in the world.
Speaking about the best, Leviatan is their next match-up – a team they were beaten by for the Americas Stage 2 title. This looks to be an incredible regional rematch at the VALORANT Champions Playoffs.
EDward Gaming – Lucky Draw
Historically dominating the Chinese region, EDward Gaming has attended every international tournament so far, never going beyond 5-6th.
With ZmjjKK kicking up and looking like the top duelist in the world and their comps throwing people off, EDward Gaming has the perfect opportunity here. Specifically, by being seeded against Trace Esports, many would consider this a free win for EDward as the most dominant team in all of China.
If they do beat Trace, as favoured by esports odds, they then face DRX or Sentinels – matches which they stand a good chance of winning.
Leviatan – Don’t Choke
Leviatan has been here before. After doing very well regionally in Stage 1, they disappointed everyone after finishing 9-10th at VCT Masters Shanghai – will they repeat this?
Climbing to the very top of Americas in Stage 2, Leviatan has looked solid so far, though they have faced weaker teams in Talon on Vitality. Moreover, the elephant in the room is their surprising loss to Trace Esports, which was quite the choke.
While they are technically favoured against G2 Esports, they can’t afford many more slip-ups.
