Vitality vs FaZe Preview (17:00 CET, Nov. 26)
Vitality
The Paris Major Champions are back to their best, even though they had to make some roster changes in the meantime. Prior to this event, Vitality were forced to replace one of their veteran players Emil “Magisk” Reif, and they’ve decided to bring in a relatively inexperienced rifler, William “mezii” Merriman, to fill his shoes.
Despite BLAST Fall Finals being this roster’s debut event together, Vitality got off to a hot start, claiming two victories in their group and quickly advancing to the semi-final stage. In the play-offs, Vitality were a part of a thrilling game against Cloud9, where both teams looked to be ahead at different stages of the match.
However, the Bees managed to hold off the AWPer-less C9 roster and booked themselves a ticket to the Grand Final. They wouldn’t be able to do it without their star boy, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, showing up and wreaking havoc on the server. The Frenchman averaged a 1.32 rating throughout the series and is currently the frontrunner runner for the Blast Fall Finals MVP medal.
FaZe
FaZe always power up on the stage and this time it was no different. The international squad came flying out the blocks, quickly asserting their dominance in their semi-final matchup against Complexity.
Even though Complexity got back into the game at various points during the match, the Antwerp Major Champions had the experience and the composure needed to close out the series and face Vitality on Grand Final Sunday in the Royal Arena.
The whole of FaZe seems to be stepping up this tournament, with every player delivering tons of impact in crucial moments of their games. In the one play-off match they played so far, it was Finn “karrigan” Andersen and Helvijs “broky” Saukants who shone the brightest, with both of them making several important plays and impossible clutches.
If FaZe beat Vitality in the Grand Final, they would win their fourth CS2 tournament (three on LAN, one online) in a row, while sporting an astonishing 19-match win streak.
Prediction & odds
Considering all the circumstances, the fact that Vitality is playing their first tournament with mezii, karrigan is playing in front of his home crowd, and Faze being virtually unbeatable in CS2 so far, it is extremely difficult to bet against the best team in the world right now.
That being said, Vitality are still a very formidable opponent, and they will definitely put up a good fight on Grand Final Sunday.
- Prediction: Vitality (1-2) FaZe
