On Thursday, August 12th, Call of Duty fans will be treated to another huge content drop in the form of a new season. As always, this update will impact both Cold War and Warzone, and it’ll bring with it an entirely fresh battle pass. This includes one hundred levels to unlock, brand new weapons, exciting new modes, and of course, a whole host of maps.

When this update drops, it’ll be one of the biggest that Activision has pushed out. The roadmap is tantalising, and it’s absolutely stacked with content. Fortunately, the update is entirely free for everyone, and all you need to do is install it when it drops.

Cold War Content is Coming

That roadmap is absolutely insane – just look at the sheer amount of content dropping over the next few weeks.

Firstly, we’re being treated to five brand new multiplayer maps on Cold War. They’re diverse, and range from gritty, urban Slums, to a near post-apocalyptic Drive-In movie theatre. For Zombies players, there’s an entirely new Outbreak region, vehicle, and fresh equipment to slay with.

On Cold War, there’s also a never-before-seen gamemode arriving, going by the name of Double Agent. If you’re a fan of Among Us, you’ll adore this mode, as it takes on the ‘Trouble In Terrorist Town’ style gameplay that you’ll know and love. In Double Agent, a killer must off the players without being detected, while Investigators attempt to track them down before their deadly deed is committed.

Furthermore, Cold War will see the arrival of a brand new assault rifle, SMG, sidearm, and a deadly Flamethrower scorestreak. The season will also give way to a frehs injection of new operators, and bundles that unlock as the weeks unravel.

What About Warzone?

Although Warzone has taken several hits recently, the content is still coming. There have been several outbursts from streamers recently regarding the state of Warzone, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a massively enjoyable game.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot coming for Warzone in season five. Of course, it’ll benefit from the fresh weapons dropping in Cold War, but there’s very little reserved just for Warzone. This season will introduce Mobile Broadcast Stations, but there’s very little known about the purpose behind these stations.

We’ll also see a new Gulag – a trend that has remained consistent for several season, back-to-back. In season five, the Gulag will be based on Rush, the paintball-themed map from Black Ops II and Cold War. Furthermore, if Battle Royale isn’t your thing, you’ll be able to take part in Clash, the deathmatch mode based in and around Verdansk.

Finally, there are two new perks making their way into Warzone. Firstly, there’s Combat Scout, which will allow players to ping and temporarily mark enemies – even through walls – simply by shooting them. Then, there’s Tempered, a perk that modifies your armor so that you only need two plates, and each plate is more protective.

That’s the landscape that awaits Call of Duty fans in season five – let’s wait for the drop.
