Cody Sun Domestic Career

2015

Cody “Cody Sun” Sun began his career on Magnetic under the name Massacre. His team took part in the 2015 NA CS Summer Qualifiers where it fell down to Misfits. However, Magnetic bounced back with a 2-0 victory over CLG Black in the third place match. With this win, they qualified for the 2015 NA CS Summer Season and rebranded as Team Imagine. Cody Sun started in four games before Team Imagine replaced its entire roster.

2016

Afterward, Cody joined Team Frostbite. Frostbite entered the 2016 NA CS Spring Qualifiers with high hopes, but a 0-3 loss to Team Liquid Academy put an end to their ambitions. This caused Cody to join Dream Team in the 2016 NA CS Spring Season. Unfortunately, Dream Team finished the regular season in fifth place and couldn’t qualify for the playoffs.

They came back to the league after crushing Arsenal in the 2016 NA CS Summer Qualifiers. And while their regular season went marginally better, Dream Team faltered in the first round of the playoffs against C9 Challenger.

2017

In the off-season, Cody Sun left the team to join Immortals. Their 2017 NA LCS Spring Split was incredibly shaky, and Cody struggled to show up on stage. Immortals finished the regular season in seventh place, effectively missing out on the playoffs.

But a single roster change was all it took for Immortals to make their comeback. They went on a roll in summer, producing a 14-4 record and tying with TSM for first place. In the playoffs, they scored a confident 3-0 against CLG, and while they fell to TSM in the finals, they still earned their ticket to Worlds. During this time, Cody Sun made his presence known as the next up-and-coming North American AD carry.

2018

When Immortals weren’t accepted into the NA LCS, he joined 100 Thieves.

Cody Sun International Tournaments

2016

On Immortals, Cody Sun attended his first international tournament, IEM Season 11 Gyeonngi. Immortals scored a win against J Team in the group stage but fell in the following series against Samsung Galaxy. In the loser’s bracket, they defeated J Team once again to qualify for the playoffs. But this was the end of the line for them as they lost to Kongdoo Monster in the Semifinals.

2017

They also took part in the 2017 World Championship. There, Immortals had a strong 2-1 start over the first week of the competition. But inexplicably, they couldn’t find a single win afterward and failed to qualify for the knockout stage.
