Zeng ‘Faith’ Hongda is a support player for Newbee.

Early Career

‘Faith’s Dota 2 career began in 2011. He was invited to participate in The International 2011 with the team TyLoo. His team placed 9th/12th and shortly after the event, he joined the Invictus Gaming squad captained by Zhou. This team later became Invictus Gaming’s main squad.

Invictus Gaming

‘Faith’ participated in The International 2012 with this squad and put on a strong performance which won them the entire event. IG initially seemed strong between 2012 – 2013, having won World Cyber Games and G-League Season 2. However, their performance wavered at events nearer to The International 2013 and they ended up placing 5th/6th at the main event. Heading into The International 2014, IG had established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the world. They had achieved several great results across various international and Chinese tournaments. Unfortunately, IG only finished The International 2014 7th/8th and following this, ‘Faith’ left the team.

LGD Gaming

LGD performed quite poorly for the remainder of 2014. However towards the end of the year, their results began to improve. Despite victories at G-League 2014 and i-League Season 2, the team disappointingly placed 9th/12th at Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015. After this result, ‘Faith’ left the team to return to Invictus Gaming.

Invictus Gaming

‘Faith’s return to Invictus Gaming led to some successes at various tournaments. The team placed highly at several events including ESL One Frankfurt, Red Bull Battle Grounds and StarLadder StarSeries. Ultimately, the team unfortunately, placed 9th/12th at The International 2015 after receiving a direct invite. This caused ‘Faith’ to once again depart from the organization.

Following The International 2015, ‘Faith’ joined TongFu. This team was very unsuccessful however and failed to qualify for any events at all and participated in very few minor events. Some of the events they failed to qualify for included The Frankfurt Major, The Shanghai Major, The Manila Major and The International 2016. The team did manage to win G-League 2016, but shortly after this, ‘Faith’ left the team to join Newbee.

‘Faith’s new team was immediately successful. Newbee came 2nd at their debut event Mars Dota 2 League 2016 and proceeded to place highly at almost every event they attended. They had somewhat inconsistent results however, especially at international events. They placed joint last at The Boston Major and failed to qualify for The Summit 6. At the end of the year, they won Dota2 Professional League in a convincing 3:0 grand final series against IG Vitality. At the Kiev Major 2017, Newbee once again struggled and they once again finished joint last. Despite this, Newbee received a direct invite to The International 2017. There, they made it to the grand finals to play against Team Liquid. Unfortunately, they failed to win a single match and lost 3:0.

Following this, Newbee participated in ESL One Hamburg, DreamLeague Season 8, ESL One Genting and The Bucharest Major. Their results at these events have been very good, and they have consistently placed in the top half of all teams whilst managing to win ESL One Genting outright.

International tournaments

‘Faith’ has attended The International three times and made it to the grand finals twice, even managing to win The International 2012. In addition to these achievements, ‘Faith’ has helped Newbee to win Dota2 Professional League Season 2 – Top, Perfect World Masters and ESL One Genting.
