Hans sama Domestic Career
Even though Steven “Hans sama” Liv played on amateur teams like The Gentle Team and E-corp Gaming, his LoL career began on Millenium. There, he took part in the PGL Legends of the Rift Season 1. Millenium qualified for the playoffs and suffered a narrow loss at the hand of G2 in the Quarterfinals. But they managed to come back through the loser’s bracket with a victory over Denial eSports and a revenge win against G2. In the finals, they lost 0-2 to the To Infinity and Beyond lineup.
Millenium went on to participate in the 2016 EU CS Spring Qualifiers. They defeated Giants Underdoge and Renegades: Banditos to make it into the Challenger Series. Millenium had a solid showing in the regular season, but inexplicably, their playoffs run ended with a 0-3 defeat against Copenhagen Wolves.
After such a disappointing showing, Hans sama left the team and went to Misfits Gaming. Misfits breezed through the 2016 EU CS Summer Season, going all the way to the Promotion Tournament where they lost a close series against Origen. Even so, they bounced back by dismantling Schalke 04 with a 3-1 score and qualifying for the EU LCS.
Misfits showed a lot of promise in the 2017 Spring Split. They had a strong start in the regular season and challenged veteran organizations in close Bo3s. Still, they came down to earth towards the latter half of the split. In the playoffs, they won a close 5-game series against Splyce but faltered in the following matches against UOL and Fnatic. With that, they finished the tournament in fourth place.
For the 2017 Summer Split, Misfits brought in Maxlore in place of their old jungler, KaKAO. At first, it seemed like things were about to go the same way, and they had a very shaky showing over the first half of the regular season. Still, they managed to pick up the slack for the playoffs. There, Misfits went all out, securing back-to-back victories against UOL and Fnatic. And even though they lost in the finals against G2 Esports, this showing was more than enough to qualify for Worlds.
Hans sama International Tournaments
On Misfits, Hans sama attended his first international tournament, the 2017 World Championship. Misfits finished the first week of the group stage with a 1-2 record, and it seemed like they were about to get eliminated from the event. But they managed to regain their composure and take down TSM to clinch the second playoffs seed. In the Quarterfinals, they faced SKT T1. And while the Korean powerhouse seemed like the clear-cut favorite, Misfits put up a great fight and took the series to 5 games before getting knocked out of the tournament.
