Career

Early Career

‘Kaka’s career began in 2014 when he joined HyperGloryTeam. This team had relatively little success and mainly attended Chinese events. They failed to finish in the top half of teams for most of the events. However, in September of 2014, HyperGloryTeam attended World E-sport Championships 2014 where they played against the top teams from around the world and finished 7th/8th. For the rest of the year the team failed to earn any money from prize winnings. The team were more successful in 2015, however. In January they placed 2nd at i-League Season 2 and a month later they finished 7th/8th at Dota 2 Asia Championships. Unfortunately, the team failed to keep these results up for the rest of the yea and after failing to qualify for The International and World Cyber Arena 2015, ‘Kaka’ left the team to join EHOME.

EHOME

‘Kaka’s new team were immediately successful. They qualified for a number of prestigiouys events including ESL One New York and The Summit 4. The team placed 3rd at their debut tournament, Nanyang Dota 2 Championships and followed this up with a 4th place finish at The Frankfurt Major 2015. The team then went on to win Dota 2 Radiant and Dire Cup, Shanghai Dota 2 Open and MarsTV Dota 2 League back-to-back. Unfortunately, the team placed 9th/12th at The Shanghai Major 2016 which led to ‘Kaka’s departure from EHOME.

Newbee

‘Kaka’ joined Newbee in March 2016 as their captain. Within 2 months, the team had qualified for The Manila Major and EPICENTER 2016. At the events, the team placed 3rd and 2nd respectively, getting knocked out by Team Liquid both times. They later won Nanyang Dota 2 Championships and these results earned the team a direct invite to The International. There, they once again failed to beat Team Liquid and unfortunately were knocked out quite early, placing only 9th/12th.

Following The International 2016, the team enlisted Faith into their ranks who consequently took over the role of captain from ‘Kaka’. The performed quite well overall. They won several events and managed to qualify for several top tier events such as Dota Pit League and ESL One Genting 2017. Despite this, the team still had troubles at the Valve events, The Boston Major and The Kiev Major, where they placed 9th/16th both times.

Leading up to The International 2017 however, the team managed to achieve several great results. They won Galaxy Battle and ZOTAC Cup Masters, and also placed 2nd at The Manila Masters. Newbee once again received a direct invite to the main event, and there the team placed 2nd overall, losing to Team Liquid in the grand finals. In the second half of 2017, the team’s performance was lackluster. They failed for DOTA Summit 8 and Captains Draft and later only placed 5th/6th at DreamLeague Season 8.

Despite this, the team had some good results in 2018 and at the end of 2017. They won Perfect World Masters, ESL One Genting 2018 and placed 3rd at The Bucharest Major. However, Newbee still had problems with inconsistency, as they failed to qualify for GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor and placed 7th/8th at ESL One Katowice.

International Tournaments

‘Kaka’ has achieved a number of great results over the years. With EHOME he achieved 4th at The Frankfurt Major and won MarsTV Dota 2 League. Later, when he joined Newbee, he placed 3rd at The Manila Major and 2nd at The International 2017 whilst also having achieved 1st place at a number of top tier events in the China region.
