Peter ‘ppd’ Dager is the current support and captain for team Evil Geniuses. ‘ppd’ is also the former CEO of Evil Geniuses.

Early Career

‘ppd’ began his career through playing Heroes of Newerth. He had placed 2nd at DreamHoN Winter 2012 and DreamHoN Summer 2013 and decided to move to Dota 2 towards the end of 2013 along with his teammate ‘Zai’. ‘ppd’ played with the team Super Strong Dinosaurs. This team won 2 of the Netolic Pro League cups, although the team did not last long together. In the beginning of 2014, ‘ppd’ along with his teammate ‘zai’ were invited to play on the team S A D B O Y S alongside ‘Fear’, ‘Arteezy’ and ‘UNiVeRsE’. ‘ppd’ captained this team, and led them to a 1st place finish at the Electronic Sports Prime Shock Therapy Cup. Due to the team’s success, the squad were quickly signed as the new Evil Geniuses roster.

Evil Geniuses

‘ppd’ continued to captain his squad, now under the banner of Evil Geniuses. The team won their debut tournament, the Monster Energy Invitational, and proceeded to win and place highly at a number of significant events. By the time The International 2014 came around, the team had most notably placed 2nd at ESL One Frankfurt, and 1st at both the HyperX D2L Western Challenge and The Summit 1. At The International 2014, Evil Geniuses put on a great performance, and although they were among favorites to win the event, placed 3rd overall.

EG’s success continued throughout the 2014-2015 period, as the team continue to win several events including World E-sport Championships and DreamLeague Season 2. In the new year, the team were preparing the Dota 2 Asia Championships. However, due to internal conflicts between the players, ‘Arteezy’ and ‘zai’ departed from the team. Having found two suitable replacements, ‘SumaiL’ and ‘Aui_2000’, Evil Geniuses headed into the event. The team almost completely dominated the event, even with their recent roster changes, in no small part due to ‘ppd’s drafting and leadership. Evil Geniuses finished 1st place, and the squad were looking very strong heading into The International 2015. Evil Geniuses won the entire event with a 3-1 grand final series against CDEC Gaming.

The 2015-2016 season was considerably more unstable for Evil Geniuses. The team were making more roster changes and their results were occasionally very poor, such as a 13th/16th place finish at The Manila Major and a 5th/8th place finish at ESL One New York. Despite this, the team generally managed to stay on top at most events and placed in top 3 at most events. Some of their results including 3rd place finishes at The Frankfurt Major and The Shanghai Major as well as 1st place finishes at The Summit 4 and Captain’s Draft 3.0. Due to their roster changes, the team did not receive a direct invite to The International 2016, and instead were forced to enter the qualifiers. The team breezed through these however, and managed to place 3rd at the main event.

Although ‘ppd’ never officially retired, following The International 2016, he stepped down from competitive play to take on more responsibilities within the organisation itself. At the end of the year it was announced that ‘ppd’ would take on the role of CEO of Evil Geniuses. ‘ppd’ worked in this role for over 6 months. During this time, he played temporarily on a part-time team, as his responsibilities were prioritized over his play. After The International 2017, ‘ppd’ left the organisation completely.

OpTic Gaming

‘ppd’ returned to competitive play by joining his former teammate ‘zai’ alongside ‘Pajkatt’, ‘MISERY’ and ‘CCnC’ on the team The Dire. The group qualified for The Summit 8 and placed highly at several other qualifiers, and were picked up by OpTic Gaming in September of 2017. Since then, the team has mainly participated in qualifiers and have received quite varied results ranging from a 6th/7th place finish at DOTA Summit 8 to a 4th place finish at the DreamLeague Season 8 Qualifier.

International tournaments

‘ppd’ is one of the most successful players in the pro scene. He is a highly skilled captain, as demonstrated by his 3 top 3 finishes at The Internationals, one of them being 1st place. In addition to this, he also helped his team Evil Geniuses place 3rd at The Shanghai Major 2016 and The Frankfurt Major 2015. ‘ppd’ has established himself as one of the best players in the world and an excellent drafter and captain. He led his team Evil Geniuses, with whom he played with for years, to internationally recognized success and for a long time they were regarded as one of the best teams in the world.
