Lu ‘Somnus丶M’ Yao is the current solo-laner for LGD Gaming. He is also known as ‘Maybe’.

Early Career

‘Somnus丶M’s career began in 2013 when he joined Vici Gaming. Initially, he played DotA and only began playing Dota 2 in 2014. He was recruited by LGD Gaming in early 2014 and after roughly 2 months, was transferred to their secondary team, LGD.CDEC. The team achieved relatively little as they mostly participated in minor events and qualifiers. However, in September, they placed 5th/8th at i-League Season 1 and shortly thereafter, the squad departed from their LGD sponsorship to form their own team. CDEC Gaming. The team began to see more success and better results. They placed 2nd at National Electronic Sports Open 2014 and G-League 2014 and later placed 4th at Dota 2 League Season 5. However, after a 13th/16th place finish at Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015, ‘Somnus丶M’ left the team to rejoin LGD Gaming.

LGD Gaming

‘Somnus丶M’ rejoined LGD Gaming in early 2015. Initially, the team struggled to qualify for events, but they made it to The Summit 3, where they placed 4th. Following this, they achieved a number of great results including 1st place finishes at i-League Season 3, MarsTV Dota 2 League and G-League 2015. The team received a direct invite to The International 2015, where they managed to place 3rd.

Unfortunately, their luck for the next year of competitive play diminished. They placed 7th/8th at The Frankfurt Major and 9th/12th at The Shanghai Major and 4th at The Manila Major. However, they disappointingly left The International 2016 in 9th/12th place after receiving a direct invite. At the end of 2016, they also placed joint last at The Boston Major

In the beginning of 2017, LGD failed to qualify for almost every event they participated in. It wasn’t until June that they managed to qualify for an event outside of the Dota2 Professional League. However, they placed highly at those events. They achieved a 3rd place finish at DOTA Summit 7 and proceeded to win Mars Dota 2 League. They followed this success up with a 4th place finish at The International 2017 after placing 3rd in the qualifiers. For the remainder of the year however, they failed to keep these results up. Their next and only strong result was 2nd at PGL Open Bucharest.

In 2018, they have so far managed to qualify for a number of events and placed 9th/12th at ESL One Katowice.

International tournaments

‘Somnus丶M’ placed 4th at The International 2017 and 3rd back in 2015, both times with LGD Gaming. In addition, he has achieved several great results at prestigious events, such as 4th at The Manila Major 2016, 2nd at World Cyber Arena 2015, and 1st at i-League Season 3.
